My favorite episode of all time! hide show

Best episode out of Season 1.Kyle has to go to a mental hospital because everybody doesn't believe in the Christmas poo. Now,I already seen episodes like this, but this is the best one ever. And the ending was hilrailous.Kenny cheered because he didn't die when the THE END logo appeared. There's only one thing that was pretty cute.At the end,Mr Hankey kissed Kyle, leaving a poo mark on his cheek. Now,that was sweeter than anything.I don't know why he doesn't appear in episodes anymore. If he dies, then that'll suck.I mean, come on!Chef died, and I hope Ike doesn't get the same treatment. But let me tell you,of all the christmas specials of all time, this one is my personal favorite.Merry Christmas to all and to all, take a poo.

This is honestly the best episode of the first season of South Park! The music is excellent, the plot is excellent, the voices are excellent! The humor is even more excellent! This episode seems to have been well produced. More so than the other episodes of the first season. I enjoyed this episode very much! It didn't give me the Christmas feel since right now it's not Christmas, but it was a very great episode to watch.

Kyle is a jew on Christmas, but he hasn't given up hope for a Christmas role model. Catholics have Santa, Jews have Hankey the Christmas poo. What?! That's a funny thing.

    This episode was hilarious!

Just goes to show that South Park can be funny in any holiday season. hide show

It's Christmas in South Park and Kyle's meddling mother puts the nativity story on hold, Kyle being Jewish segregates him from the other guys and a talking Christmas poo known as Mr. Hankey who can only be seen by Kyle also threatens to write him off forever. This episode probably had the most "firsts" of any episode: It's the first episode where Kenny doesn't die, the first Christmas episode, the first "official" appearence of Mr. Mackey, the first episode to mention that Kyle's Jewish (even though his Mother obviously couldn't be anything but) and the first episode to feature live - action. There's nothing harder the endure than a Christmas cliché and this one is especially cheesy but as South Park's charming predictability was a major factor in the early seasons, it can be forgiven. There is a witty take at angry crowds who can't help being offended by every little thing until the Christmas play consists of the kids wearing stockings and dancing to creepy, interpretive music. Basically the whole South Park cast is given an appearence and even a line each which is rare, especially now since many of the recurring characters have been dropped from the show, the now only semi - reguler character Chef (Isaac Hayes) drops in to drop a seductive tune which no doubt raises the demographic for this show to about 50/50. Mr. Garrison steals the show from right under Cartman's nose and Mr. Mackey gives a credible introduction, curiously all three of them are voiced by Trey Parker.

Graphically the standards are still poor but it hardly matters as the rest of the content is still good. With this episode we say "howdy ho" to Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo (hypersonically voiced by Trey Parker). He's lovable, well - meaning but the fact that he is just a piece of faeces and most of his lines sound like they've been written by a lame department store Santa it makes him a difficult character to get attached to, he's unoffically killed off in "Red Sleigh Down" but fans of him rejoice as this isn't until way into the 6th season. A very fun Christmas event, a must - see for fans.

    "Howdy Ho!" hide show

Here is my review for this classic Christmas episode of "South Park". Because the holidays are coming up fast, I decided to make a review for it. Anyway, it's called "Mr. Hankey The Christmas Poo", and it's about all the townsfolk of South Park trying to make Christmas non-offensive for all religions after Mrs. Brofloski (Kyle's mom) gets upset about her son playing the role as Joseph in the Christmas pageant. Kyle then tells everybody about Mr. Hankey, a magical piece of poo that likes to celebrate Christmas, no matter what religion it is that people celebrate it. Kyle brings Mr. Hankey to school, and when he shows his friends, all they see is a regular piece of poo. Because of what's happening to Christmas in South Park, Cartman decides to sing an insultingly hilarious song about Kyle's mom. Mr. Hankey then attacks Cartman by flinging himself at Cartman, and he and the other boys think that Kyle has gone crazy and send him to a mental hospital. The next night, the people get bored watching the non-offensive version of the Christmas pageant and they immediately argue and fight. Chef then tells the boys how they can see Mr. Hankey (after realizing that Kyle wasn't crazy after all); and so, Mr. Hankey appears and tells everyone about the meaning of Christmas. This episode was hilarious the first time I saw it. It was even one of the first episodes of the show that Kenny DOESN'T die in. One of the best Christmas-related episodes of the show ever made.

    Mr. Hankey hide show

So, Hankey's first appearence. The memories flush to my head as I write more and more Season 1 reviews. I enjoy South Park and Hankey Howdy-HO sure is a chocolate treat. I enjoy watching him laugh, dance, prance, talk and sing and I really find it entertaining to watch his little episodes even if they are dumb.
Now, the first episode of Season 1 was excellent and so is this. It may not live up to later Hankey Christmas episodes but it sure is swell, folks!
A real good episode, Mr. Hankey steals South Park as well as Ike Brofloski and Cartman's porn star of a mother.

  • Recurring Roles

  • This episode was the debut for Three popular South Park songs including "Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo", "Kyle's Mom is a Stupid **** and "The Lonely Jew on Christmas", which are all repeated in later episodes. []
  • Mr Mackey calls Kyle a "Fecophiliac" for his apparent obsession for feces. The correct term is a coprophiliac. []
  • This episode contains the series first ever live action footage, the Mr. Hankey play-set. This footage was played like a commercial, and was played after the show went to a commercial break, and intended to look real but was in fact a part of the show. This led the tradition of act break "commercials" in South Park being live action. Other episodes that do this include "Towelie," "Cherokee Hair Tampons," "Chinpokomon," and "Free Hat." []
More Trivia
  • After this episode aired, John Kricfalusi, of Ren and Stimpy fame, accused Stone and Parker of ripping off a character from his George Liquor flash cartoons nammed "Nutty, the Friendly Dump". However, the court ruled out the case as "too ridiculous". Ironically, the episode actually featured a reference to Ren and Stimpy when Mr. Mackey calls Kyle a "sick little monkey". []
  • During the pre-episode intro on the DVD and video this episode was on, Trey Parker explained that Mr. Mackey was inspired by the school counselor he had in junior high. []
  • According to "Goin Down To South Park", Mr. Hankey was inspired by an event which happend with Trey Parker. When Trey was a kid, he had the habbit of not flushing the toilet, because of this, Trey's dad told him that if he didn't flush the toilet, Mr. Hankey would come out and eat him. []
More Notes
  • Cartman: How bout we sing, "Kyle's Mom is a Stupid Bitch," in D-minor?
Kyle: I told you not to call my mom a bitch Cartman! []
  • (Talking about Kyle's mom)
Cartman: Oh, boy! Superbitch is at it again! []
  • Stan: Hey come on guys. We have to go to the mall and tell Santa Claus what we want for Christmas.
Cartman: Yeah. We'll see you later, Kyle. Guess there's no reason for you to come, since you don't get Christmas presents.
Kyle: No, but I get Channukah presents for eight days.
Cartman: Too bad it's usually a dreidel or something lame like that.

More Quotes
  • One Froggy Evening:

Many of the plot devices surrounding Mr. Hankey (him being carried around in a box, his coming to life in the presence of only Kyle and subsequent inactivity in the presence of others to the point that Kyle eventually is forced to enter an asylum) are very similar to those surrounding Michigan J. Frog in the classic animated short One Froggy Evening. []
  • Ren and Stimpy:

During the scene where Mr. Mackey finds a turd in his coffee he calls Kyle a "sick little monkey". This is an insult which is used in the animated comedy Ren and Stimpy. []
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas:

The episode opens with Stan arriving on the stage and reciting the story of the birth of Jesus from the Gospel of Luke, this is very simular to what Linus did in the famous "A Charlie Brown Christmas" special. The snowflake-eating scene is also a reference from Peanuts. []
