I don't think they could have pulled it off any other way... hide show

    "The Return Of Chef"

    Grade: A*

This episode of South Park touched me in a way where you realise that Chef is gone from South Park forever, and for some reason the way Matt and Trey have set the episode up in a way to describe Issac Hayes departure from the show worked because it allowed us to understand that Chef was there since the beginning, and just seemed unfair for him to just turn on our backs for the wrong reasons.

The plot is that Chef goes to a club named The Super Adventure Club and when he returns he acts differently to everyone in the wrong way (wanting to have sex with children) and nevertheless the boys are concerned. They try to get him back and confront the club again to rescue Chef, but it goes horribly wrong and Chef is killed. A funeral is set and Kyle describes in a few sentences how Chef affected their lives and we should forgive him.

This episode is a classic because the message is described very well and the humour works effectively in describing the departure situation in South Park style. There's not any other way in my opinion that Matt and Trey could have getting Chef a better departure, because in a way its a mix of revenge, sadness, and betrayal to both Chef and Issac Hayes, whilst the creators show their opinions about it without too much trouble.

    So long Chef hide show

The Return Of Chef- The town is jolted out of a case of the doldrums when Chef suddenly reappears. While Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are thrilled to have their old friend back, they notice that something about Chef seems different. When Chef's strange behavior starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him. Chef joined a thing called "Super Adventure Club" (which is a clear parody of Scientology). Chef is brainwashed into the club. The boys try to save him by taking him to a strip joint and is saved (for a bit) until the SAC show up and dart him. Chef is taken back to the SAC HQ. The boys rescue him and escape. The boys then escape with Chef and Connelly shouts out "Don't you remember why you left South Park in the first place?!" and Chef suddenly stops in his tracks. Connelly tells Chef that his life will be grand and eternal if he stays with them. Stan tells Chef that, "We love you" but Chef just says "I'm sorry, children" and walks back towards the club.

However, the bridge that Chef is crossing collapses after being struck by lightning. He tries to climb back up onto the cliff, but is unable to hang onto the bridge. Chef falls and is impaled on a jagged tree stump. He is then attacked by a mountain lion. Connelly-desperate to keep Chef alive-instructs one of the members to shoot the mountain lion. He tries, but accidentally shoots Chef in the heart. He fires two more bullets, both of which hit Chef. A grizzly bear then appears and attacks Chef as well. The mountain lion tears off the skin on Chef's face. It then bites off his right hand and the bear bites off Chef's right foot. Chef's legs and waist both tear apart and his insides fall out. Stan and Kyle shout: "Oh my God, they killed Chef! You bastards...YOU BASTARDS!!!" The boys, dismayed that their friend is dead, leave the scene. Chef in the end dies.
A memorial service for Chef is held. Kyle explains that he did not agree with Chef's recent decision, but is not angry with him for leaving South Park and only wishes to remember him as the singing, jolly man he once was. Kyle explains that "We shouldn't be mad at Chef, we should be mad at that fruity little club for scrambling his brains." The scene then cuts to the SAC members resurrecting Chef as Darth Chef.

    Goodbye Chef!

    goodbye isaac hayes hide show

the return of chef.season 10 s premiere. had the most views in the history of all premieres of south park. and i know why. pedophiles.crude jokes.just the normal south park jokes in a very crude version. We say goodbye to our good old chef.it is and episode to remember.first time i watched this, i was like, what in the world is this ! but then i watched it again, and saw it funny and totally sick.it now has an average score of 9.0.this is one of the unique episodes that makes me laugh so hard ! it was kinda sick, disgusting, and aristocratic.but overall a very good/funny/sad/sick/violent and an episode that changes the look of south park by killing of a character.deserve an emmy.

  • The interior and exterior of Jimbo's house looks nothing like it did back in "Jakovasaurs". []
  • Cartman didn't have trouble with the child molesters in this episode, yet in “Cartman Joins NAMBLA,” he was horrified by pedophiles. []
  • The boys take Chef to a strip club to help him clear his mind and remember who he was. The strip club is the same strip club seen in "Lil' Crime Stoppers." []

  • This is the only episode to not roll the credits. []
  • This is the 3rd "MA" rated episode in Australia. []
  • You can see Cartman's mom, Liane Cartman at two different seats at the same time, during Chef's funeral. []
More Notes

Chef: I just like to make love up your butt.
Woman: (turns away) Oh my God!
    Nurse: Mr. Chef, is it?
Kyle: All right, come on. (they follow the nurse in) []
  • Super Adventure Club Leader: Okay, you know how like when you want people to leave but they wont leave and it's really frustrating?
Kyle: Where not going anywhere without Chef.

More Quotes
  • The Simpsons:

When Chef falls down the cliff, he hits several rocks on the way down, similar to Homer Simpson's fall down Springfield Gorge in the episode "Bart The Daredevil". []
  • Child Sex Tourism:

The practices of the Super Adventure Club are somewhat similar to those of some Child Sex Tours, as such tourists travel to other countries to have sex with children (in an attempt to avoid legal prosecution for such activities in their own countries). Some of Asians also believe that having sex with young people will increase their energy, which is related to the concept of Ying & Yang. In many developed nations, people who participate in a child sex tours may be prosecuted in their home countries. []
  • In-Joke:

Super Adventure Club Leader: Now I'm going to tell you the secret of the Super Adventure Club.
Stan: We don't want to hear it.

This is like what Stan said in "Trapped in the Closet," where he is unexcited to hear the Scientology secret. The following secret includes in large letters "This is what the Super Adventure Club actually believes," which is similar to the Scientology secret statement label "This is what Scientologists actually believe."
