A show that is past its prime, but still somewhat enjoyable. hide « show »

Spongebob Squarepants is one of the longest-running shows on Nick. It is however, subject to decreasing quality. The newest episodes are funny, but they aren't very strong storywise. I still enjoy watching it, although I do have better things to do. The very character of Spongebob is funny, but he is also very irritating. It is very annoying to see multiple episodes where Spongebob just pesters his neighbor Squidward again, and again, and again. He doesn't seem to get the fact that he is annoying, and is rather obnoxious. Although this was debunked, in some instances Spongebob is portrayed as "a little TOO friendly", if you know what I mean.

It is a good show, with some memorable episodes. Some episodes and characters are just a riot. Mr. Krabs is very funny, and so is Patrick the Starfish.

However, this show is mainly for pure entertainment and enjoyment. If you are looking for a well established plot and a story, check out the Movie.
All in all, a good show with some great humor.

Spongebob Squarepants started off as a great show, and quickly became famous, but in recent years the quality as greatly declined, and the show had become less enjoyable. hide « show »

Spongebob was a very good show in seasons two through three, but the quality of the shows have declined in reacent years. The episodes are not as funny, and the characters have gotten less intelligent and act in innaproate ways. Some of the recent episodes are contradict the early episodes. Overall the quality of the show has declined greatly, and the episodes have gotten worse. The show is also aired to much on TV. The show will become old much faster if this continues to happen. The best years of Spongebob have past, and it will take major effort on the part of the producers and writters to make the show better.

It was really great few years ago I think. hide « show »

Many wanted the old SpongeBob be back, and I've been always been annoyed why people wanted too cancel this show like they saying "I will pray this show will get canceled", I hate that phrase. Ok let's talk about the plot or the premiere for those who did not watch Spongebob, but before that, let's compare the new and old Spongebob.

    Old one:

It used to be a great show ten years ago, the character's attitude wasn't too intense after all. The humor was great and so original. And became the most popular show in TV. I watch this a hundred times on this even long time will watch this a hundred times too.

    New one:

Spongebob Squarepants was quite a little bit downhill, the character's attitude was became more intense (ex. Squidward was became more cranky), and Sandy was turned into a smart squirrel. And Mr. Krabs was now a true cheapskate and now cruel crab.

Even the critics had hated the new SpongeBob. One critic said "just another kid-pandering waster". The best way too feel the new Spongebob was great is too watch every episodes in the new Spongebob.

No need to tell the plot though.

    9.5 Superb

The story of a yellow square sea sponge that looks more like a kitchen sponge. He lives in a Pineapple on the ocean floor in the town of Bikini Bottom. The episodes are about his adventures working and playing all through the eyes of a sponge. hide « show »

The second longest running show on Nickelodeon after Rugrats and produced by United Plankton Pictures, Stephen Hillenburg's production company the creator of the show. This is one of the most clever animated shows ever. SpongeBob is a brilliant adventure based on the sponges life in Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob is voiced by Tom Kenny who also voices Gary his snail (cat) and plays the narrator when necessary. Other major characters are Patrick Star voiced by Bill F (last name omitted as the sensor says it is offensive?) who is a pink star and by far the most annoying character on the show. His next door neighbor Squidward Tentacles voiced by Rodger Bumpass a squid who fancies himself a clarinetist and artist who is a snob in general. SpongeBob and Squidward work at the Krusty Krab for Eugene Krabs voiced by Clancy Brown. Mr. Krabs is a salty old sea dog and former sailor. The other two major characters are Sandy Cheeks voiced by Carolyn Lawrence a squirrel who wears an air helmet and lives in an air dome at the bottom of the sea. Sandy is a scientist and an inventor as we learn in one of the episodes and Sheldon Plakton who is a single cell Plankton who is Mr. Krabs arch-enemy and owns the Krusty Krabs competition the Chum Bucket.

This show is a terrific animated series that has had a TV movie as well as over a hundred episodes to this point. What I really enjoy is the constant positive attitude SpongeBob the major character exhibits almost all the time. Even when Squidward is putting him down he puts a positive spin on life.

The show has done some wonderful episodes with songs and music. One of the better episodes was The Best Day Ever where SpongeBob wakes to sing about his day and continues throughout the whole episode. Another is the when they sing the campfire song. There are many memorable moments. More than can be mentioned here.

I would highly recommend this show to children of any age and I personally enjoy watching it anytime. Thanks for reading...

A great show. It did decline in quality, but it's still an enjoyable show. hide « show »

This show is wonderful. The first three seasons were awesome, and the second and third seasons were filled with classics. There were no episodes that were actually painful to watch, and there were very few episodes that were lacking in humour or a good plot. I was very impressed with the movie, I thought it was clever and hilarious. However, seven months after the movie aired, the series continued, and the show started declining in its fourth season. Nearly every fan noticed a change in the episodes plots, storyline pace, and their humour. The characters also changed, but not for the better. Spongebob became more emotional and whiny. Patrick was stupid to the point where he wasn't even funny and he was too mean and arrogant in some episodes. Squidward became too arrogant, ill-tempered, and a constant victim of Spongebob and Patrick's stupidity and mistakes.

Mr.Krabs became too greedy and cruel to others, to the point where it became irritating.

Sandy isn't in the series enough, and when she is in an episode, the only thing she talks about is science. She acts as a minor character, when she's supposed to be a major character.

Plankton is the opposite of Sandy's change, he is in the series too much, and he's now a major character. He was used only so often in earlier episodes, and now he's in almost every episode.

As for the episode changes, the plots are still clever sometimes, but not as clever as they used to be, the storylines are too fast, and there is no humour directed to older audiences. Most of the humour is either toilet humour, gross humour, or comes entirely from the plot.

However, despite all these changes, not every episode is painful to watch. In fact, there are many episodes that are clever like I mentioned earlier, and enjoyable to watch. It's much better than most kid shows on the network. The show is still an alright show, and I like it. Spongebob did take a turn for the worse, but it's still not a bad show.
