We're up to 17 entrants now. Should make it more interesting than last year. Hopefully we can get close to 50 people by the time Week 1 rolls around.

50? Wow. I guessing closer to 30, but the sky's the limit.

Been out of the loop for awhile but I'm back. Hellfish, Fishzone, IndianaMom and others had our own league last year but I have been doing Yahoo Pick em for about 3 years now.

We have now subsumed your entire group from last year. Welcome one and all.

*starts humming "Best of Both Worlds"*

Is 'subsumed' even a word? In any case, resistance is futile. Be careful what you ask for, pinkskin.

(Yes, a mixed ST metaphor - so sue me.)

I'd like to join. I'm a friend of IndianaMom and found out about the league on her blog.

Our promotional campaign is working. Announcements on blogs seem to be the most effective method.

In response to the message earlier on the thread, "subsume" is indeed a word (click on link).

In defense of Tommy, I went to dictionary.com when I read subsume for the first time to find out if it was in fact a word. I can almost certainly guarantee that if you use that word in a face-to-face conversation you'll get a "Huh?" response every time.

I've heard that word used a lot. Maybe not in sports conversations, so I'll give you that. But it's not an obscure word. And if I'm not sure about a word, I always check it out on the dictionary sites before using it on a forum post.

Earlier today I did a phone interview with a woman who was throwing around words like "confluence" and "lacivious," so I can completely relate. Then again, this lady is a professor at Brown University, so it's not like it came out of the blue.

Hey Brown University, the college Joe Paterno went to and set a record for career interceptions at. By the way the record still stands today.

    You knew that was coming!

I need some sign up info! I'm an Indianamom referral, in case she gets commissions or anything. I'll also be having a yahoo fantasy football league, with a live draft the weekend of the 23-24th. But that's another topic...

Just over a week left before Week 1 picks are due. Since Week 1 includes a Thursday game, picks are due by Wednesday, Sept. 3.

If you haven't signed up yet, it's still not too late but if you miss Week 1, it'll be difficult to make up the points in later weeks. So try to get in on the ground floor and join the contest before Wednesday of next week.

C'mon, I know there's got to be at least one person out there that's sniffed around this thread a few times that wants to join but hasn't yet. You know you wanna, just do it and get us up to an even 20.

Just to clear any confusion, that's Wednesday the 3rd, not the 27th.

I edited the previous post to avoid any possible confusion.

Maybe people can post on their blogs about the contest now that the Olympics are over. I'll post another blog entry about the contest this week, along with an Olympics wrap-up post.

That's two more people. Any more onlookers here? All it takes is a word or two to say you're in. Only one more week before the first deadline.
