So barrack-ing for a team is different than favourite team?

    yes

Do you care to elaborate, or do you just like to be cryptic? Opening threads are supposed to explain whatever the hell it is your getting after...

I haven't figured out if he's talking about Aussie football (i.e. soccer) or Arena Football (in that case, I guess I'm a Chicago Rush fan).

I'd like to know about Australian's baseball league. I think there's still one or two Aussies in MLB.

He's pitching out of the M's bullpen. Last year was his first year in the bigs, he's only 25 yrs. old.

I just have to point out that 'Aussie football' is NOT soccer. Just like you (the US) we call soccer soccer. To us football means either Rugby League or Rugby Union (Queensland, New South Wales and Canberra) or Australian Rules Football (Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia). Soccer is the third/fourth most popular code of 'football' in Australia. Aussie Rules, or AFL as specified in the title of this thread, is the most popular code and is nothing like soccer. A promo video can be viewed here.

Rugby League, the second most popular code is closest to your Gridiron, though with many differences. A touchdown is called a try and the ball must be grounded - it can't simply be carried over the line. You are not allowed to pass (throw) the ball forwards. You can't tackle/hit any player without the ball. There are no huddles or breaks in play. No protection is worn (though some players wear headgear - not helmets). There are many more differences but these are the major ones you notice on first viewing. This video here is one of the best tries you'll see scored.

Barracking is essentially related to your favourite team. To barrack is to cheer for, so therefore the OP is asking which team you cheer for.

And onto the initial question :-

    GO THE HAWKS !!

So what do you call it when you have a least favorite team? Hillaring?

(Yes, it's a bad pun. Shoot me.)
