I had fun playing the other hurt or heal we did awhile back. It will be heal +1, hurt -2. The posts are limited to one every… More three hours; meaning, if you posted, then want to double post, you must wait three hours. Enjoy the game. I will be attending in the next month or so, and I will post how the experience is. I am so excited! Welcome to the new thread friends!
My review covers the movie and both seasons of the show, as well as the season 3 trailer. hide show
The Movie:
The Clone Wars kicked off in the summer of '08 with a theatrical release. It introduced the newest jedi character to the SW universe, Ahsoka Tano. I absolutely loved this movie and actually saw it twice in theatres. It melded the old characters with the new ones nicely. My only problem with it was the characterization of Anakin, who acts much more mature than we see in the prequel movies. But overall it was excellent, and it was a nice beginning to a new stage in Star Wars.
Season 1:
Except for the two-part Jedi Crash arc, which was terrible even with Aayla Secura in it, season 1 was thoroughly enjoyable and brought in some beloved characters from the movies. I watched many of the episodes multiple times and still watch it on dvd. There was excellent interaction among the characters, which I really enjoyed. The tv show started out on a good note and continued all the way through to the season finale.
Season 2:
This season, unlike season 1, was really in a slump. Some of the episodes were excellent( The Geonosis arc and Lightsaber Lost being a few), but most were dreadful( The Mandalorian Arc comes to mind), and alot of them were forgettable. I also couldn't figure out why the tagline for this season was Rise of the Bounty Hunters when the bounty hunters were only really featured in the premiere and finale episodes. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the show's sophomore season.
Season 3:
At the end of season 2, a trailer was shown for the upcoming season 3 this fall. I can honestly say that I'm excited to see the next season, even with my feelings about the previous one. It looks like Shaak Ti, the only jedi in the lego star wars games who has not been featured yet, will finally come in. Another thing the trailer hinted at was a more in-depth look at Ahsoka, who really hasn't had much storyline/character development yet in the show. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the crew can pull itself out of the pit that was season 2 and deliver a season worthy of the name Star Wars.
I'm Confused! I'm watching star wars and am feeling feelings, by actual acting and plot! hide show
This show I found more compelling than the more recent movies. The animated skywalker can act 100 times better than the twit they got for the live action movies (and I use that term loosely since every single scene was in front of a blue-screen, and you can tell. Everyone's acting is a little forced, a little to wooden.)
I like how they explore situations with the clones more. Giving them names, hair styles, and even personalities. Some of the episodes were moving, some were tense and dramatic, and there was even a creepy on on Geonosis. Sure the plot kind of takes some liberties. Such as Anakin's Jedi Knight status. Which he never achieved in the movie. But come on, you have to admit the movies were rather ... lamish. Even if the effects were good. George has forgotten where he started, and is only looking at the $ signs at the end of the movie, not whether or not it was property written or acted.
Mandalore never looked this good, I am surprised with the liberties this episode takes with the SW timeline and events. A weak plot and finish disappoints. SWTCW sometimes takes liberties but this one just does not fit . hide show
In the old Star Wars Universe, Mandalore hasn't had such glass and steel modern Metropolis palatial cities...ever? Or at least not since the time of the Old Republic and the Mandalorian Wars. This episode appears to change Mando history and insert a detailed storyline into series where one didn't exist. Mand'alor in Mando'a, literally means "sole ruler" - along the tradition of the True Mandalorians - which makes this "Duchess" completely out of place. It's way to close to the end of the Mando Civil War - 40 years - and the True Mandalorians were the victors, their culture Mando like Jango Fett. This story does not fit.
100 years BBY Jaster Mareel was leader of the True Mando and a civil war was fought between his group and the "Death Watch" - which in this episode is made out to be a terrorist group preying on peace-loving Mandos? It's disturbing to see the Duchess inserted into Wookipedia w/o source attribution during the Clone Wars period as fact, based on this Episode.
This is a strange and out of place side story in the plot line. Obi-wan acts like he knows nothing of the true Mando culture, it's a mystery who the "bounty hunter" he fought on Kamino was even though his identity was well known, and his long standing hatred of the Jedi also well known. Why else did Mace Windu go straight for Jango with murderous intent in Ep II? It's as though the old Mandalorian vs. Jedi War never happened and the pre-current Republic history was lost, along with the current Repblic History less than 100 years BBY.
Old Republic, Jedi Revan killed their main leader and they fell into a post-war infighting. Near-contemporary times, Tor Viszla, founder of the Death Watch, was defeated 60 year BBY. We're supposed to buy into a highly developed city 40 years after a massive Civil War destroyed the Death Watch and presumably ravaged the planet?
A strange and out of place diversion from the Clone Wars story. It doesn't fit with the many Star Wars books or movies, and the characterization of the Mandalorians as sophisticated, peace-loving neutrals? The true Mandos who would have ruled the planet at this time don't fit that mold at all. Yes, the Death Watch might still be distinct but the main ruling culture would have been true Mando at this time, not some simpering neutrals living in elegant glass towers.
The greatest and worst characteristic that this show has is that it is part of the Star Wars saga.
First season lacked and disappointed much, but the second season seems to pick a little bit.

The greatest and worst characteristic that this show has is that it is part of the Star Wars saga. Because of that characteristic, it is what keeps me excited about learning more about the Star Wars universe. At the same time, I feel myself being let down by a number of episodes because I have such high expectations with it being part of the Star Wars story. Much of the first season is a rather large disappointment. The second season seems to be picking up and somewhat re-developing the new main characters.
I am a big Star Wars fan, but not quite a Star Wars expert. I do know enough about the universe to see that there are quite a few inconsistencies in actions that the Jedi take and their prior known character traits. It makes me think that the writers are concerned with keeping the plot fairly simple for juvenile/adolescent audiences and assuming that inconsistencies would be overlooked. I actually think it would have been better if they used completely new characters and have had the older, more well known characters at a distance helping the newer characters develop. The more recent episodes reflect this and I hope they keep with that trend.
Still, it may not be enough to appease more fanatic followers.
strong characters and decent story hide show
For this series i've heard all kinds of reviews, from Worst ever to Best ever. Well i think it's neither, but it's good clean fun, with decent storyline and strong characters. The Clone Wars is the perfect choice for this kind of project, it has all kinds of elements that can be used throughout a series of animated Star Wars. The director's done a good job. Probably doesn't stick to the original ideas but the whole thing about future projects like this is that they don't necessarily have to be identical copies of original story, there's room for alteration and that's, that's just beautiful. Thumbs Up from me! Cheers!
