In this episode Rod speaks Czech to Zelenka: "Měj se." which translates to "Take care." (edit) The McKay from the parallel universe says that their plan to get to 'our' universe involved using an ancient personal forcefield for protection when transporting over the bridge to the other universe. After hearing this 'our' McKay mentions that he depleted theirs, referring to the incidents in the first season episode "Hide and Seek", where McKay, after getting ancient gene therapy, manages to turn on the personal forcefield, but is then unable to turn it off at will. He did manage to turn it off eventually, only to later willfully turn it on again to remove an energy-based lifeform through the Stargate. When Sheppard introduces himself to McKay's sister, McKay finds Sheppard acting a little too friendly and refers to him as Kirk. The name Kirk is in reference to Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek series and the first six movies with Kirk being notorious for his way with the women. (edit) Terminator:

When "Rod" appears suddenly he is in the same pose as Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator when he suddenly appears from the future, and is even wearing a leather jacket like in the movie, too. (edit) McKay: You'll just need to click your heels together, huh?

This is a reference to The Wizard of Oz, where the main character, Dorothy, clicks her heels together in order to get back home in Kansas. (edit) Title:

This is a take-off on the title of Robert Altman's 1971 movie McCabe & Mrs. Miller. The title characters, played by Warren Beatty and Julie Christie, are mismatched and somewhat reluctant partners in running a brothel in a Pacific Northwest frontier town. (edit)
