Beckett: (about a decayed corpse) He's been dead for months.
McKay: No, really? (edit) Sheppard: Got any ideas about killing me?
Teyla: No.
Sheppard: That's good to hear. (edit) Teyla: Is that what made all these people kill each other?
McKay: I hope so.
Sheppard: You hope so?
McKay: Otherwise, there are two bizarre things going on, and one is more than enough for me, thank you very much. (edit) McKay: The Genii must have found this place, activated it somehow, and then couldn't figure out how to turn it off, so they did what any other good soldier would do in their situation.
Sheppard: Shot the hell out of it. (edit) Teyla: What is it?
Ronon: I saw something.
(short pause)
McKay: Well what? Person? Animal? (exasperatedly) How many syllables? (edit)

The Wraith device was intended to improve the mind manipulation process and allow them to cull more effectively.

The helicopter that Sheppard finds Captain Holland in his flashback is a Russian Mil Mi-24 better known as the Hind D. The Jet that Sheppard sees the UAV as is a A-10 Thunderbolt II nicknamed "Warthog" from the pilots and crews of the USAF.

Holland: Are we even going in the right direction?
Sheppard: Yeah, west.
Holland: Looks east to me.
Sheppard: It's west.
Holland: Because there's a whole mess of Taliban just east of here.
(Later, after running into the Taliban)
Holland: West?
This is the second time in the series John Sheppard's lack of direction is mentioned. The first was in the Season 1 episode "Underground" when McKay accused Sheppard of being lost on their way back to the settlement from the Stargate. It is referred to again later in Season 3 when, in the episode "Submersion", Teyla and Ronon doubt Sheppard's claim of an "uncanny sense of direction". (edit) McKay: He was calling for the Prometheus. That ship was destroyed last year.
The Prometheus was the first US Air Force spaceship, introduced in Stargate SG-1's sixth season episode "Prometheus". It was destroyed in that show's ninth season episode "Ethon." (edit) McKay: ...Ever since I was shot in the ass by an arrow, I've been prone to sciatica.
This refers to the events in the teaser of the episode "Sateda." (edit)

McKay: It's as if whoever turned it on dialed it up to eleven and just left it there.
This is a reference to the comedy "mockumentary" This Is Spinal Tap, specifically an oft-quoted conversation (between the characters Nigel Tufnel and Marty DiBergi) about the dials on the band's amps going up to eleven, which naturally is "one louder" than ten. (edit) McKay: You shot me!
In the Season 8 Stargate SG-1 episode "Lockdown", Daniel Jackson says the same thing after being shot by Jack O'Neill because Jackson was behaving much like the team in this episode. Sheppard's reaction was much like O'Neill's. (edit) McKay: Another Hardy Boys mystery.
Referencing the well-known boy's mystery series penned by several writers under the pen name of Franklin W. Dixon, and featured in at least five different TV incarnations. The Hardy boys are the brothers Frank and Joe, typically amateur detectives who solve crimes and help out their father. (edit)
