Sam: Schrodinger's Cat
Physicist Erwin Schrodinger theorized that a cat in a box with a can of poison gas activated by the decay of a radioactive atom would, at any one instant, be both dead and alive at the same time. The superposition of two states collapses to one state or the other only when the box is opened and the cat observed. Schrodinger created the thought experiment to show the conflict between quantum level behavior and macroscopic behavior. edit »
