  • The exterior of the bar, The Jungle Room, is used often in the show but the interior and style of restaurant/bar is different. It has been a go go joint, a restaurant and a bar. []
  • Plot nit-pick: Just what is Huggy Bear doing on Playboy Island, and how did he get there? It never is completely explained. Certainly, he does have at least one family member there that could be of use to Starsky and Hutch, but would the Police really pay for an informant (quite possibly a pimp) to head off to a sunny tropical resort just in case he might be of some use?! (Of course, in reality, it's because Huggy was a popular character and the writers wanted to involve him in the story!) []
  • In the shot of the Torino pulling up opposite the bar at the very beginning of the story, Starsky and Hutch are noticeably wearing different clothes when they get out of the car to when we see them inside the bar. The reason is because it's actually a shot recycled from the first season episode 'The Bounty Hunter'. The shot is passable for Starsky, wearing a similar jacket, but Hutch's white-sleeved baseball jacket is eye-catchingly different to the jacket we see him wearing inside the bar. []
  • In the United Kingdom, a repeat of this story was the most watched episode of the series in 1980, clocking up 14.4 million viewers when it was broadcast on Friday 3rd December (9:25 p.m., BBC 1). (It's not clear whether this was in feature-length version or was one of the two parts.) []
  • Huggy's racket: Not a racket as such, but we do see Huggy blending in with the local culture, including becoming a (very bad) taxi driver. []
  • Much of this story was filmed on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. []
