Notes

In the United Kingdom, this story was the most watched episode of 1978, when it was first broadcast on Saturday 30th December (BBC 1, 9:15 p.m.). (Check the date - just 11 days after the States. Ahh, those glorious days before $ky!) (edit)
This episode has the minor curiosity of having two characters with the same name – there are two Franks. Normally, such occurrence would be avoided so not to cause any confusion for the viewer. (edit)
John Herzfeld was introduced as Starsky's younger brother Nicholas, after Paul Michael Glaser continued to be unhappy with the contract binding him to the series. Herzfeld bears a noticeable similarity to Glaser, and apparently Glaser himself had a say in the casting. One idea reportedly considered was that in the final episode of the season, 'Sweet Revenge', Starsky was to die from gun-shot wounds, and the following season he would be replaced by Nick, by then cleaned up and a Police Officer. The idea was never carried through – the show finally finished at the end of a fourth season due to slipping ratings, and Starsky was kept alive. (edit)
This episode is usually found billed as 'Starsky's Brother', but it can be very occasionally found listed as 'Starsky's Little Brother'. (edit)

Hutch:(to Nick) Frankly, I don't give a damn what happens to you, but I do care about what happens to your brother. (edit)
