Henry Havens' last name appears to be a reference to King's own story The Tommyknockers, which is set in Haven, ME.
(edit)
Androscoggin County (from the newspaper headline) is in Maine - Lewiston, ME, the setting of King's Riding the Bullet, is found there.
(edit)
The man who struck Peter appears to have drug problems and later dies (of fright) when admitted to Kingdom Hospital--similar to Bryan Smith, the man who nearly killed King with his van in 1999, who was found dead of an overdose in his apartment a couple of years later. Also, on the DVD commentary to the series (actually to the first episode) King notes that the man who nearly killed him was wearing a large number of transdermal patches when he was found dead--exactly like the loser who hit Peter, when he falls off his roof.
(edit)
More King story references: as Dave (man who hit Peter) wanders down the hall in his dream, he hears an old blind man reciting a couple of lines from "The Emperor of Ice Cream" and, a moment later, a man descends on him, baring long fangs. Both refer to King's 1975 vampire novel salem's Lot.

Elmer: To the Traffs, who never give up.
Lona: To the Massingales, who never give in. (edit) Sally: There is something wrong here.
Hook: There are many things wrong here.
Sally: There is a little child not at rest, and we may hear her going down in that elevator.
Hook: Pediatrics.
Sally: Pediatrics? This child's not from Pediatrics. Ha. Dr. Hook, this is a child that is not even alive. And I think you may find out because you're not as closed off as some, and it's not just the child. Things have changed here at Kingdom Hospital since the last time that I was here, and something has awakened, something evil. (edit) Stegman: Look, do you know how many times Mrs. Druse has been admitted? Fourteen times in the last two years, and that's just in this hospital.
James: It's terrible to be so ill. (edit) (about earthquakes)
James: But the geologist the Keepers of the Kingdom have brought up from Boston assures us that they'll stop soon. But you know geologists. To them "soon" can mean five centuries. (edit) (about Sally Druse)
Bobby: It's another one of her damn seances. Those terminals.
Otto: Ah, leave her alone. They're all circling the drain. Maybe your ma helps them get used to the idea. (edit)

Trivia: According to maintenance man Rudy Jenkins, Jobnny B. Goode is out because of his wisdom teeth. He is probably having them removed at the dentist.
(edit)
Rickman: Watch your hand, Dr. Kildare.
Referencing the long-running series (1961-66) starring Richard Chamberlain as Dr. James Kildare, a specialist in internal medicine. (edit) Name Tag
On Mona Klingerman's room label, Stegman's name is crossed out and the name Clooney is written next to "Attending Physician." This could be a reference to George Clooney, who played Dr. Doug Ross on the medical drama series ER. (edit)
