Other screen credits include a role in the short-lived Julia Louis-Dreyfus sitcom Watching Ellie (2002–2003), along with parts in such films as Bruce Almighty as an arrogant rival to Jim Carrey who gets the ultimate comeuppance at a news desk (a role Carrell will revisit in the 2006 sequel Evan Almighty, this time as star); Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, playing yet another news personality, this time a dimwitted member of Burgundy's crew; and Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda. In 1996, he was a cast member of the briefly aired The Dana Carvey Show. Carell has also done some voice acting, including several voices in "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" for Saturday Night Live.
