Steve won the 2008 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, along with his The Sopranos castmates. The win was their second, but first since 2000. They were nominated in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Steve: I think that underdog thing stays with you. Forever, you keep that sense of the underdog and I think underdog types just try harder in life because we don't get the respect right away, or didn't in those days anyway. So it's like, "I'll show you." My first wave of success and financial freedom came with the E Street Band and then 20 years later, my second wave of success came out of the blue with The Sopranos.

Steve: (On similarities between him and his character) We are both permanently stuck in previous eras. Silvio is stuck in the '50s and I'm stuck in the '60s.
