His best-selling novels about police work, based on his own experiences, have made a lot of money and won him a host of female admirers who turn up wherever he goes. Chief Paulton (portrayed by Pat Hingle from the Batman movie series),his one-time mentor, is not too happy about that, but there is not much he can do about it; as long as Stone's writing is done on his own time, it's his private affair.
