In the life cycle that is television, individual shows may come and go, but Kelsey Grammer isn't going anywhere. The actor's resume almost guarantees that he'll have no problem finding work, particularly in the half-hour sitcom format.
Grammer, best known for his portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane in both Cheers and the spin-off Frasier, was most recently employed getting laughs as a news anchor on Fox's Back to You with fellow sitcom heavyweight Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond). However, that show was recently--and surprisingly--canceled by Fox a little more than a week ago, leaving Grammer without steady work.
It didn't take him long at all to find a new gig; Grammer has signed on to star in the new ABC pilot Roman's Empire, according to Variety. He'll play the lead, a quirky, filthy-rich dude who has to deal with his girlfriend's annoying family.
For those keeping score at home, Roman's Empire is yet another American adaptation of a UK show.
Whereas Grammer can practically sneeze and get an acting job, others are just starting to see theirs take off. Rapper Bow Wow (nee Lil' Bow Wow) is apparently putting the mic down in order to concentrate on acting. His first regular gig will be as a stand-up comic on Entourage, where he'll be one of Eric's clients.
"After 16 years in the music industry and six successful albums, I've decided to shift my energy to something else I'm passionate about, acting," Mr. Wow told E!. "I'm going to try to be the next Will Smith."
Bow Wow previously starred in Roll Bounce, and had parts in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Smallville.
