Development's Hurwitz ports Britcom
By Colin Mahan - TV.comMitchell Hurwitz and Arrested Development writer will team for US remake of British hit.
The Bluth teller is back.
Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz and Development writer Richard Day will develop a US version of the British sitcom The Thick of It, about inept politicians. The British series follows members of Parliament, so presumably the US version will be about Washington DC bureaucrats.
The British version won Best New Comedy at the British Comedy Awards. The US version is being developed for Sony TV.
Day will write the pilot script and will coexecutive produce along with Hurwitz. In addition to Development, Day has written for NBC's Good Morning, Miami and HBO's The Larry Sanders Show.
Arrested Development told the story of the highly dysfunctional Bluth family. The show ran for three seasons on Fox, earning two Emmys and a tidy fan base but never becoming a ratings star.
