Mitchell Hurwitz and Arrested Development writer will team for US remake of British hit.

The Bluth teller is back.

Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz and Development writer Richard Day will develop a US version of the British sitcom The Thick of It, about inept politicians. The British series follows members of Parliament, so presumably the US version will be about Washington DC bureaucrats.

The British version won Best New Comedy at the British Comedy Awards. The US version is being developed for Sony TV.

Day will write the pilot script and will coexecutive produce along with Hurwitz. In addition to Development, Day has written for NBC's Good Morning, Miami and HBO's The Larry Sanders Show.

Arrested Development told the story of the highly dysfunctional Bluth family. The show ran for three seasons on Fox, earning two Emmys and a tidy fan base but never becoming a ratings star.

Tobias: Oh, this is joyous news!

The Thick of It was great, and I couldn't stop thinking how good an American version could be.

(Also, Arrested Development won 6 Emmys.)

The Thick of it was brilliant, and the same kind of understated/underhand humour as AD - I think it could potentially be hillarious.

I wonder how he will do with working on a show he didn't create. I figure it'll be good, sounds like a fun time, and btw to the guy who said he was surprised they didn't think twice cause an actor on the original is charged with kiddie porn charges, why does that matter? If the show is still funny then that's all that matters.

I'm surprised that this story about the lead actor of The Thick Of It didn't make them twice about this one. Mind you, I guess a US remake of the show is probably better than airing the UK original, the latter of which is now somewhat tarnished.

I hope the show's not on FOX. ABC or CBS would be good contenders.

I didn't think he would be back this quick after what he had gone through with Arrested Development.I'm pretty sure it'll be a great show and i hope this doesn't share the same destiny with AD.

What network is this going to be on? I want to know how fast this will be cancelled.

If this were math this article has the formula to equal one of the greatest/funniest shows to come!

That's good that they're working on it. It just hurts my pride that this is an import.

This sounds promising. Hopefully it will be as funny as Arrested Development
