ABC's Lost, which aired a cliff-hanger episode as it went off the air for 13-weeks, scored a 7.0 ratings in 18 to 49s and saw a viewership bump, according to Nielsen overnights. CBS's Criminal Minds trailed with a 5.2 rating, but Minds again beat Lost in total viewers, with 17.5 million to Lost's 17.1 million.
Lost's viewership jump is welcome news to ABC--the season-three premiere scored 18.5 million viewers, down 25 percent from the season-two finale, and the show had been leaking viewers since, down to 16.1 million viewers last week. Lost returns in February with an unbroken run of all-new episodes.
On Fox, The O.C. crept up a little from its season-four premiere. The show was watched 3.52 million viewers, compared to 3.38 million last week. This week, Fox announced it would try to slowly migrate O.C. to Wednesday nights in an effort to shore up ratings.
At 8 p.m., ABC and Dancing With the Stars scored a 5.2. CBS's Jericho drew a 3.0, Fox's Bones came in with a 2.8, and NBC's Biggest Loser and CW's America's Next Top Model tied with 2.6 each.
At 9 p.m., Lost went out with a 7.0, CBS's Criminal Minds earned its 5.1, NBC's Biggest Loser ate up a 3.6, and O.C. and The CW's One Tree Hill tied with 1.5 each.
At 10 p.m., CBS's CSI: NY arrested a 5.4. ABC's The Nine and NBC's Dateline tied with 3.0 each.
Overall, ABC earned a 5.1 rating/13 share in 18 to 49s, averaging 15.1 million viewers; CBS, 4.5/12, 14.7 million; NBC, 3.0/8, 7.6 million; Fox, 2.2/5, 5.5 million; CW, 2.1/5, 4.5 million.

I'm tired of wasting an hour of my life each week on Lost to learn absolutely nothing. This show is unraveling and it is unraveling fast. It almost feels like the writers weren't expecting it to be such a hit and are scrambling to drum up more drama. How much more can actually happen to these poor people? When will there be some answers???
Fans of LOST seem to be getting tired of not ever really knowing. Not enough payoff these days.
putting oc the same night as OTH was so stupid they should of stayed on thursdays. OTH is gonna beat out OC in ratings just watch. they did last week and they will keep on truckin. OTH go a full season. their story lines are not so good anymore they are running out of ideas

I don't think you should put One Tree Hill and the OC together. A lot of people watch both shows. I do. But I would preferrably watch One Tree Hill. The OC isn't that good anymore, since Marissa died.
Where will Lost viewer go now that the show is off until Feb? Probably they will go to Criminal Minds (especially since even Criminal Minds re-runs will be new to Lost viewers). If Criminal Minds pick-up former Lost viewers, will all those viewers return to watch Lost when it returns?

Hm.. The OC and OTH on at the same time.. yeah thats smart. I watch OTH just because I just barely started watching the dvd's of the OC and still on first season so I will just be waiting until 4th is on dvd, but still, I know a lot of people that watch both.

OC is terrible now. Luke's twin brothers are going out with Marissa's sister, that's just redundant. And that Hailey girl... what's her problem, she's pretending to be in France, she's a terrible character. However thinks OC has gotten better is wrong. Lost is just as good as it ever was, and it's a show where u either like it or you don't. But you must watch every episode, cause if you skip a lot, and then start watching it again, then of course your going to think it's stupid, because you won't understand what's going on. The only bad thing about Lost is the black fog thing. Also some people want answers, Lost isn't about answers, it just gives you questions and you enjoy trying to figure them out, even if it takes 11 episodes before you get an answer.
Have you even seen the new season of The OC. It is absolutely incredible. The first three episodes of this season have shown why i fell in love with this show. I think it's safe to say that the OC is back! But i do agree that it needs to be played in a different time slot.
oth kicked the oc ratings in woman viewers and u have to consider that FOX is a bigger network, a 3,52 for oth on the cw is really good but for FOX it sucks A LOT

Long breaks obiously didn't help 24. Because ifit did they would have kept doing it but they don't do that anymore they have a non stop season.Once 24 comes back none of this will even matter.
People keep getting crazy about the Lost break it isn't much of a break most shows including Criminal Minds will have tons of repeats Dec., Jan., and Feb., they literally my only be denying us five or six new shows and I believe it's worth it to have a straight run. Plus I believe with the promise or nonstop twists and action when it comes back for sixteen weeks can only help the show's viewership. In the past breaks have only helped shows( 24,Scrubs, Prison Break.)
Ha ha Criminal minds is creeping up on Lost supremacy and although I watch both. I'm glad to see Lost taken down a notch and with the ridiculously long break CM's viewer-ship is going to grow!
I love Lost. And I love how Jack tries to let Kate (run with Sawyer) despite what he saw. Awww. *gives Jack a hug* I love him. Also, I'm a jater.
I bet Nathan Fillion is what did that for FOX because he is the kind of guy that has dedicated fans.

There are so many good shows on thursday!......Fox made a great decision by moving The O.C. to wednesday.....It just doesn't stand a chance against other thursday shows.....I mean....going up against CSI...and Greys Anatomy....?!?!......It had to be moved..or suffer a fate worse than death.....

Not to be negative, but the Lost season finale didn't impress me very much. I thought it was VERY well done, but I was expecting a huge revelation, seeing as it was a pivotal episode as the last episode for 4 months. The last scene was very powerful, though. I'm glad The O.C. isn't sucking it up anymore. I'm very impressed with the 4th season, after a slow decline during seasons 2 and 3 (with a few good episodes inbetween). I hope it does well in the new timeslot.

I'm glad they moved "The OC" to Wednesday nights at 9pm since two and a half years in May 2004.
I'm really in love with Fox's producers right now cause I'm really glad that they are doing this move to save The OC who totally deserve it since this season is amazing compared with the others. Who used to think, based on S2 and S3, that The OC is gone, should totally watch it again to change your minds.

This would be a tough three month break if it came at any other time...I think I'll make it. Holiday '06 will be busy enough for me to forget about it. I love seeing Lost on top, though...:)
