    5 Mediocre

Yet another crime stopping duo, this time taking place in the Florida Keys. hide « show »

This is a definite guilty pleasure. The show ran when I was 14 years old and I remember even knowing it was a 'horrible' but mildly entertaining show at that time. There is nothing that separates this from other crime fighting shows.

The characters are fairly easy to identify with as they seem quite normal, which is where the attraction can lie. There are no amazing feats accomplished, no beautiful women abounding, or no baddies that are just so unimaginable. Think of James Bond... this is the opposite... or perhaps a low-budget version of that idea.

Set in Florida, the pace is quite relaxed and the scenery inticing if not alluring. With his friend, a bleached blonde beach bum who is also in a rock band, and a beach side bar as their usual hang out, this show captures every Canadian's idea of what Florida is.

The stories and diaolgues are simple and a little cheesy at that. The plot-lines are always easy to follow and the finalie or each show is never nail-biting or a surprise in any way, shape, or form, but yet, you keep watching, hence the guilty pleasure.

Late at night when you are tired, it is perfect for getting a smile or at times a laugh, because although it's mediocre, it isn't so because of biting off more than they could chew. That is to say, it is as if they have aspired to make a B-TV show (like a B-movie), as opposed to striving for a hit and ending up with a flop. So it carries with it a certain realism, for example the characters are quite humanized and accessable to the point where they are a tiny bit cathartic, and you find yourself liking them and caring about what happens to them. So enjoy... in private!
