In the Forman basement, Donna tells Eric that Red's muffler shop is the perfect job for him, since he's been muffling Eric for years. Hyde says that at least Red has a job he likes; Jackie tells Hyde her plan for the two of them, which begins with Jackie modelling, moves on to both of them being on TV, and ends with them in the Ice Capades. Hyde says he's quitting his job; Fez says he's quitting the DMV too. Kelso suggests that Fez become a cop like him, so he can arrest foreigners. Eric says he loves his job because he has no job, and then adds that he's chasing butterflies today and making bubbles tomorrow; Kelso asks if he went down the clearance aisle at the store, and Eric admits that he did.

At the muffler shop, Red's ready to set up. Hyde has a muffler put together and Red is impressed; he offers Hyde a job, but Jackie says no because guys who work at muffler shops are bottom feeders. Jackie reluctantly agrees that Hyde should take the job; Red tells him to start tomorrow. Hyde leaves to go have lunch with his new dad; Jackie wants him to take a camera so he can get pictures. Kitty comes in with Eric and a box of decorations. She's brought Red a 'Grand Opening' sign in needle point. Red asks Eric to hand him the manifold, but Eric doesn't know what it is. Kitty wants Eric to help her decorate and he has ideas for that; it disgusts Red that he has a son who doesn't know what a manifold is but does know what bunting is. Eric says that the problem is that Red was never around when he was a child; Red points out that he was always around, and Eric says that that was the problem.
[Opening credits.]
[Scene change: Fez dances towards the camera.]
At the beauty salon, Fez looks around with Donna and says he's never been to a beauty salon before. He says that he won't wander off, and complains about working at the DMV; Donna tells him that they're looking for a shampoo boy at the salon. Fez is excited about the prospect of getting paid for touching hair, and how he used to get in trouble for that... montage of him touching various girls' hair, only the last one is a guy with long hair. Fez says it's his destiny to be a shampoo boy.
In the Forman kitchen, Eric comes in and tells Kitty that Red offered Hyde a job at the muffler store. Kitty says that Red has always had a soft spot for Hyde; Eric says that if he loves him so much he should marry him. Red comes in with a framed 'Grand Opening' flyer. Kitty says it's a good idea, and adds that offering Eric a job is a good idea too. Red says that he can only afford to hire one person and Eric can't do anything. Kitty points out that today he caught a beautiful butterfly.
[Scene change: Kitty dances towards the camera, Red walks across the screen.]
In the Forman living room, Bob says he's hurt that Red didn't ask him for advice, since he had his own business. Red points out that Bob's business went under. Bob says that when you open a store you need a gimmick and that Red should get a monkey. Red says that he's going to offer good service and a fair price, and that's his gimmick; Bob scoffs at this idea, telling him to leave that to the Japanese.
At the hair salon, Donna introduces Fez to the owner, who decides that Fez is creepy but cute so she'll test him out on a regular customer... Donna. Donna doesn't want this, but agrees, telling him that only his hands can touch only her head.
At a restaurant, Hyde thanks Mr. Barnett for lunch; William asks if he loves Led Zeppelin, 'cause that's the only shirt he's ever seen Hyde wear. He starts to tell Hyde about a Led Zeppelin concert that he once went to; Jackie runs in with a camera and starts taking pictures. William offers Hyde a job with him, and Hyde says no, because he took another job. William tells him to quit the other job, and Hyde says he'll work it out.
[Scene change: Eric does push ups on the screen.]
In the Forman basement, Eric asks Hyde what Red said when he offered him the job; Hyde can't believe that he has two jobs. Jackie points out that it's an emotional time for Hyde because his new daddy and his substitute daddy are in a tug of war over him. Red comes down with a surprise for Hyde - a shirt, with a custom made "Hyde" patch on it for the muffler shop. Red goes back upstairs; Kelso asks why Hyde didn't say anything; Jackie says it's a moral quandary.
At the beauty salon, Donna sits down for Fez to shampoo her hair; he begins touching her hair, then smelling it and rubbing it on his face. Donna tells him to use soap and water; he begins to shampoo her hair.
[Scene change: Fez dances towards the camera.]
At the muffler shop, Red welcomes customers to his Grand Opening; Mr. Barnett shows up and tells Red that he offered Hyde a job too. Kitty tells Eric that Red didn't think that he was a good fit for the job; Eric points out that the sign says "Forman and Son." Red tells Hyde that drinking on the job isn't allowed and fires him, but Hyde knows that Red was faking it. Hyde points out that he's heard Red fire a lot of people and he has never said "I hope there's another job for you...", he usually says things involving his foot and the fired person's ass. Kitty tells Red that he's a softie, then tells him that he's now got a job to offer Eric; Red says that maybe if he told Eric that the cars were called space mobiles, Eric would take the job. He offers Eric the job, but Eric says no, it's his year off. Kitty wants to know why he complained so much if he didn't want the job; Eric says he just wanted to get invited to the dance, but he didn't want to dance. Hyde tells Mr. Barnett that he's available for the job; Mr. Barnett says that Hyde should start on Monday at 9 a.m. Hyde tries to bargain about the time, but gets nowhere. Donna comes in and tells Jackie that Fez's hands were amazing during the shampoo. Fez comes in and Donna's all giggly when talking to him; he's been hired at the salon. Jackie says that she'll make an appointment too. Midge and Bob come in; Bob says it would be better with the midget catering company he suggested; when Red says he didn't want any cockamamie plan, Bob tries to call off Kelso, but Kelso comes in with a monkey in a tutu, saying that they have him for three more hours, so he's going to see if he can teach the monkey how to drive.
[End credits: In the Forman driveway, Eric runs in with a butterfly net, saying that there's a butterfly in the back yard and he's on it. Red looks on in disgust as Eric tries to catch it and can't. Eric throws the net then runs out, saying that he's only made the butterfly mad.]
