Guest starring Danny Bonaduce, which sets a trend of using '70s TV and music icons as guest stars. That was used throughout the run of the show, from Alice Cooper to Jamie Farr. This trend could ultimately be one of things the series will best be known for. (edit) This is the only episode in which Donna is noted as having a younger sister.

Donna's lost sister is also mentioned at the end of an episode in season two, when they show a soap opera-type cliffhanger where Midge wonders what happened to Tina. (edit)

Hyde: Well, this is a first. I actually agree with Jackie.
Eric: What? You're saying that I'm stupid?
Hyde: Donna just put on the full court press, man, and you dropped the ball.
Eric: What are you talking about? All she said was she'd be alone on Saturday night with a pizza... Oh God, I'm so stupid. (edit) Ricky: Tell me, what do you consider your best quality?
Eric: Well, I'm a real people person.
Hyde: I don't answer stupid questions.
Fez: I speak Dutch.
Kelso: My eyes. Oh, and I guess my butt too. (edit) Ricky: Hey, how's that mopping coming along?
Eric: Well, I'm just happy to be a part of the Fatso Burger family. (Ricky walks away) You dumb ass. (edit) Ricky: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Eric: Fatso Burger.

Kelso: Rock star. No, a movie star No, wait. Yeah. Rock star.

They were all 17 except for Jackie who was a year younger. Since when can't a junior in high school date a freshman?
Reponse: I doubt he wanted to date her, he probably wanted more. And more is illegal with a 14 year old, no matter how old Fez may be. (edit) Kelso imitates Animal House when he yells, "Toga! Toga! Toga!" However, this episode was set in 76, while Animal House wasn't released till 78. (edit)

The Doofus and Diligent section, showing Kelso as Doofus and Eric as Diligent, is modeled after the Goofus and Gallant comics in Highlights magazine, depicting the difference between "bad" and "good" for young readers. (edit) In "Red's New Job", Eric gets a job at Price Mart. But before Red agrees to it, he's dead set against Eric getting a job. In fact, he used a similar line that Kitty used in this episode that it was his job to get good grades, graduate and move out. In this episode, Kitty doesn't want Eric to get the job, but Red is okay with it. (edit) Jackie: I just want to hear the guitar solo one more time.

The guitar solo that they're all listening to is from the Peter Frampton album, Frampton Comes Alive, released in 1976. Kelso also mentioned that Jackie liked Frampton in That 70s Pilot. (edit)
