  • During the funeral scene, the overseas service bars can be seen on the right sleeve of each member of the A-team. Each bar represents six months of overseas service. Hannibal has five bars, Murdock has three, Face has two, and B.A. has three. B.A. also has two hash marks on his left sleeve, indicating two enlistments. The rest of the team would not have these marks, as they are officers, not enlisted men. The black stripe on the sleeve and the black stripe down the outside of each trouser leg also identify them as officers, as do their shoulder insignia: a silver bar for Face as a first lieutenant, double silver bars for Murdock as a captain, and the silver oak leaf for Hannibal as a lieutenant colonel. []
  • On B.A.'s uniform (during the funeral), his insignia is not that of a staff sergeant, but of a "Specialist 6." Specialists held the same rank and pay grade as NCOs (non-commissioned officers, from corporal to sergeant major), but while the NCOs had command responsibilities, the specialists did not. The Specialist 6 rank is at the same level as a staff sergeant. The army specialist positions were eventually phased out by 1985; only one specialist rank remains in the army today, at the same level and pay grade as corporal. []
  • In the opening chase scene, one of the pursuit vehicles is shown jumping a rise in the road (just before the shot where the A-Team van enters the construction site). That jump was shot on Dell Avenue in the Venice neighborhood in L.A.; signs for the cross streets Linnie Canal and Carroll Canal can be seen in the background. []
  • Don Stroud was billed as Special Guest Star in this episode. []
  • The opening chase borrows heavily from the police chase in an earlier episode, "The Rabbit Who Ate Las Vegas" -- many of the shots and sequences are identical. []
  • Amy: I know how hard it is for you guys to stay out of trouble.
B.A.: Trouble? I don't start no trouble. I mind my own business.
Amy: Going up to a traffic cop who is writing out a ticket for your van and eating the citation right in front of his face absolutely falls under starting trouble.
Hannibal: But you gotta admit, the look on that cop's face was worth it. []
  • Murdock: (singing) If you want to dance to the music, you have to pay the piper.
B.A.: How'd you like this one? 'Dead men tell no tales.' []

Allusions

  • Murdock: Follow the yellow brick road.

This well-known line is, of course, from The Wizard of Oz, where four friends banded together to defeat the evil witch. Only the A-Team is a lot more confident going into this battle than Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Lion were! []
  • Hannibal: Where are the rest of the Brothers Grimm?

Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were German professors who collected and published folk tales, fairy tales, and legends in the 1800s, including Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, and Snow White. []
  • Hannibal: I'll bet Johnny Carson's holding his breath waiting for you to drop out of the sky.

At the time this episode aired, Johnny Carson was the host of The Tonight Show on NBC. []
