• The motel where Charlotte meets Billy for the second time is the Bell Vista Motel, which is still in operation at 1605 N. San Fernando Blvd. in Burbank. [edit]
• When Face hands off tailing the bad guys in the white van to Murdock, the intersection is N. 3rd St. and E. Orange Grove Ave. in Burbank; Murdock turns left from Orange Grove to follow the bad guys on 3rd. [edit]
• Goof: While Face is tailing the bad guys in their white van, he tells Murdock, "All right, I'll make a right up here on Fifth. Murdock, you get on him two blocks up." However, in the next shot, Face is still tailing the van when Murdock sees him -- and Face makes a left turn in front of Murdock's car. [edit]

• Joseph Wiseman appears in this episode as a "Special Guest Star." Wiseman is perhaps best known for playing the title character in Dr. No, the 1962 James Bond film, though he has numerous television credits to his name as well. [edit]

• Murdock: It was 1928. Notre Dame was down and almost out, and Knute Rockne gathered everybody in that locker room and told them the story of Frank Gipp. ... he told them how the Gipper played the entire game with pneumonia and how the Gipp died on the field. And then he said, "Whenever Notre Dame is down and you really need a win ... you just gather the boys together and you tell 'em, 'Win one for the Gipper.'"
  
  George Gipp did not die on the field in his final game on November 20, 1920. He was ill and still recovering from a shoulder injury, but he led his team to a 33-7 victory over Northwestern on an ice-covered field. He died less than a month later on December 14.
  
  Knute Rockne gave his "Gipper" speech on November 10, 1928; Notre Dame ended up beating Army 12-6 that day at Yankee Stadium.
  
  Knute Rockne's speech (which does not match Murdock's version) was reproduced in the 1940 film Knute Rockne, All American, with Pat O'Brien in the title role and a young Ronald Reagan as George Gipp. As a result, Reagan carried the nickname "Gipper" the rest of his life. He turned it to his advantage during his presidency, often using "Win one for the Gipper" as a rallying cry, so that the phrase is now associated as much with him as with Notre Dame football. [edit]

  Hannibal is quoting lyrics from Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party," released in 1972; it would be Nelson's last top 10 hit and eventually became his best-selling album ever. Sadly, Ricky Nelson died in an airplane crash one year after this episode aired. [edit]
