Notes

add »
The episode is set mostly in New York City, but of course shot in Los Angeles. One recognizable location is the 1100 block of South Los Angeles Street, which appears in the shot of B.A.'s taxi following the bad guys, just after B.A. says, "We movin' uptown now, passin' 86th St."

Another L.A. location is South Broadway, which appears in the scene of Face tailing the bad guys later in the episode (look for the historic Woolworth store on the left side of the street). (edit)

Quotes

add »
Hannibal: You said you'd fly if it wasn't Murdock at the controls.
Murdock: You didn't tell me he said that. You said you'd fly with another pilot, but not me? You said that?
B.A.: Yeah!
Murdock: Wise choice. (edit)
B.A.: Man, how do you put up with yourself?
Murdock: It's difficult at times. (edit)

Trivia

add »
The garbage truck was provided by the Crown Disposal Company, which handles waste services in and around L.A. (edit)

Allusions

add »
Murdock: Tracy's gonna show me all around New York. Look. She's gonna show me Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building. You know, where that big hairy ape got ....

Murdock is, of course, referring to the movie King Kong. (edit)
Murdock: Th-th-that's all, folks.

Porky Pig's stuttering sign-off came at the end of Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. (edit)
Murdock: Houston, we got a problem.

Houston, We've Got a Problem was a 1974 television movie that referenced the events aboard Apollo 13 in 1970, but focused mostly on fictional crises in the lives of the Mission Control crew. (edit)
B.A.: You driving?
Face: When in Rome....

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" possibly traces back to advice given by St. Ambrose to St. Augustine in the fourth century: "When you are at Rome live in the Roman style; when you are elsewhere live as they live elsewhere." (edit)
Murdock: (singing)
I'll take Manhattan,
The Bronx and Staten I....

Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart wrote the song "Manhattan" for a Broadway revue called The Garrick Gaieties in 1925; the song was their first of many hits. (edit)
