Notes

add »
Thames repeated this episode on May 6, 1981. (edit)
The entire opening sequence of "The Fudpuckers" sketch (except for the last second of the "God Bless My Father, Whoever He Was" episode title shot) and portions of the "Butch Cafferty and the Fundance Kid" sketch were cut when this episode was repeated by Comedy Central in the mid-1990's. (edit)
This show was taped on February 15, 1980. (edit)
This episode is a bit unusual, in that it has no closing chase sequence. Instead, Hill's Angels perform while the credits are rolling. (edit)

Trivia

add »
During "The Fudpuckers" sketch, in the portion where Jenny Lee-Wright's maid character asks Benny, "Do you mind if I pop out later?" and he responds, "You can pop out any time you like," it appeared that the audience was joining in with him in saying his line. (edit)
Hill's Angel Vivienne Warman is incorrectly credited as Vivenne Warman in the closing credits of this episode. (edit)

Allusions

LORD BELFONT (Henry McGee): I am Lord Belfont, scouring the countryside to find a new Jester for the King.
The name 'Lord Belfont' was a reference to impresario Lord Bernard Delfont (1909-1994), who'd played a peripheral role in Benny Hill's early career. He produced the West End production "Paris By Night" which Hill starred in from 1955 to 1956; after a miserable 18 months Delfont let Hill out of the contract, with the proviso that Benny star in a series of hour-long variety specials for brother Lew Grade's ATV network, where he did a total of eight from 1957 to 1960. Lord Delfont later headed the entertainment conglomerate EMI, and in that capacity financed the film compilation The Best of Benny Hill, released in 1974. (edit)
