Jed Cuts the Family TreeEpisode Number: 26 Season Num: 1 First Aired: March 20, 1963 Prod Code: n/a |
Mrs. Smith Standish is spending more time with the Clampetts, desperate to find out if the Clampetts did in fact precede the ‘Mayflower.’ And Mrs. Drysdale is continuously tortured, with old-fashioned chores and with a goat, which eats her hat, causing her to get very sad, making` Jane and Drysdale think she has been drinking. With this happening, Pearl is trying to prepare the family for high society. She buys them all gifts in town: a polo outfit for Jed, safari outfit for Granny, and tou-tous for Elly and Jethro. Mrs. Smith Standish finally gets the call on the family, and says if Jed’s Great Grandfather’s name was Ezekiel, then they will be famous and treated to the social graces, including meeting the President. But Jed says his name was Jeremiah. When Granny asks him why he lied, he said he enjoyed the simple life and wouldn’t know what to say to the President.

Pearl: Do somethin’ Jed. Uh, polo fer us.
Jed: I don’t know how ya poll. I feel like a dang fool. (Picks up the polo stick) From the look of this thing, I don’t know whether ya snare em or knock em off trees. (edit) (Pearl is speaking with Jethro, after just having a make-over, and says her French phrase)
Jethro: Ma? Where’d you learn how to speak I-talian? (edit)

When Mrs. Drysdale realizes she let Pearl take her limo, she says she will call a cab. But in a later episode, she was forced to take a "common" cab and wasn't happy about it. Why is it okay now, but not later on?

If Mrs. Smith Standish was so exicited about all the old fashioned chores, why didn't she do the things Mrs. Drysdale did? Mrs. Smith Standish did a handfull of the activities, while Mrs. Drysdale was tortured doing them all.
