The Widow Poke ArrivesEpisode Number: 81 Season Num: 3 First Aired: November 18, 1964 Prod Code: n/a |
Guest Stars: Ellen Corby (Emma Poke) , Jesse Pearson (Johnny Poke (Voice only))
Drysdale and Jane are on their way to the Clampetts', after Granny told them that Jed is planning to get married. They aren't too sure about the idea, since Jed didn't mention it at all. When they get there, they learn that Jed doesn't even know that he is getting married. Granny sends them to pick up the Widow Emma Poke, and Elly goes with them to spot the Widow, whom Granny describes as "beautiful."
Granny doesn't hide this from Jed long. She accidentally spills the beans, or more likely, Jed tricks it out of her. He is against Granny matchmaking the two of them. The Widow arrives, and it turns out that she is against it too. She has suffered more years of matchmaking than Jed has. They come up with a plan; they will act like teenagers. Jed and Emma come back dressed as surfers, talking like kids in a beach movie, and dancing. Granny isn't too pleased with all this. She leaves the group of people dancing in the hall. As she goes out, she sees a pair of squirrels, and tells them to go into the house because there are all you can eat nuts in there. Big ones too!
