(Jed and Granny are talking about the Widow Poke's marriage)
Granny: Ere you sayin’ that Clyde and Emma Poke didn’t have a happy marriage?!
Jed: No. As I recall, the marriage was real happy. It was the livin’ together afterwards that caused all the trouble. (edit) Jethro: Who's comin'?
Granny: The Widow Poke. The finest cook in Cass County and the pertiest young woman to ever come outta the hills.
Jethro: Hmm. Three of em, huh? (edit) Granny: What have you got agin marriage anyway?
Jed: I ain't got nothing agin marriage Granny, I'm all fer it.
Granny: Ya h'are?
Jed: Course. Man needs a wife.
Granny: That's right.
Jed: There's a lot of things he can't blame on the government. (edit) (Jed and Granny are discussing the Widow Poke)
Granny: Well, as a child she was plain, but she blossumed into a lovely young girl.
Jed: Girl? The Widow Poke?
Granny: I don't think she's seen thirty.
Jed: Oh, she's seen it alright; she just can't remember it. (edit) (Granny just told how to hunt Beverly Hills style)
Jed: Beverly Hills style?
Granny: Yeah.
Jed: Sounds good.
Granny: Sure does.
Jed: Real smart.
Granny: Ain't it?
Jed: He sniffs the flowers.
Granny: Yeah.
Jed: Drop the hat.
Granny: Yeah.
Jed: Got a rabbit.
Granny: That's right.
Jed: One question?
Granny: Ask me.
Jed: Who's the candy for?
Granny: The Widow Poke. (edit) Granny: I don't see so good Jed.
Jed: Yeah, like a hawk you don't see so good. (edit) Granny: Jed is to young to be single and miserable.
Drysdale: But he's very happy.
Granny: Where'd ya hear that? From him?
Drysdale: Well, as a matter of fact, yes.
Granny: What does he know about it?! Underneath all that happiness, he's miserable! (edit) Granny: I know how you young folks like to rock your rolls and jitter your bugs.
(edit) Granny: How long you been married Mr. Drysdale?
Drysdale: Twenty years.
Granny: Ah. Ain't that wonderful? They've had twenty years of happiness.
Drysdale: No, we had twenty-five years of happiness. Then we got married. (edit) (Drysdale enters with a life-size cardboard cutout of Johnny Poke. Granny has her glasses off, so thinks it is really him)
Granny: Johnny Poke!
Drysdale: Hi ya Granny, let's twist!
Granny: I'll twist your neck off if you spent the money I sent your ma. That was fer her to come out here and marry Jed!
(Granny puts her glasses on as Jed enters, hearing everything) (edit)

While posing as young surfers, Jed asks Granny if she wants to go grunion hunting with him and Emma that night. However, in season 9, when the "Grunion invade," they think that they are a fierce, warlike people from the island of Grun. Why did they know what they were then, but not in the end?
