While in a strange town, Heath and Nick buy a bull from a man who turns around and has them arrested for stealing it. The sheriff catches up to them while they sit around their campfire, and a fight ensues in which Heath badly burns his leg in the fire. The crooked sheriff takes them to a road gang prison to await trial. . .in a few months!! The cruel warden refuses to allow Heath a doctor and makes him work alongside the others. They soon find out the real reason that innocent drifters are arrested and imprisoned, free work labour for the man whom the Barkley brothers had bought the bull from. Meanwhile, at home Jarrod has found out what has happened to his brothers and heads out after them. Arriving at the prison he demands to see them and when the warden refuses he threatens him with legal action if he is not allowed to see his clients. After he speaks with them he rides off to find the circuit judge. Getting scared that the truth will come out now that he realizes who he's dealing with, the warden devises a plan to kill Heath and Nick and make it look like an escape attempt. He locks the very sick Heath (his leg has gotten much worse without medical attention) in an iron sweatbox, out in the blazing sun. Knowing that Nick will try to save his brother, he and his guards lie in wait once night falls. But Nick has found out about the plans and decides to get Heath out and barricade themselves in the barracks until Jarrod returns. Before he can get Heath out however, the warden jumps him and the fight, Nick almost strangles the man to death, before realizing that it's not worth it. Jarrod then rides up with the judge and a doctor, and they get Heath out of the box. At the end Heath offers a job to a nice old man who helped Heath when he was sick (he gave him a piece of cheese that he'd been hiding).
