Chief Pope is out in the field eating with Lt. Provenza and Detective Flynn when a shooting crime scene occurs across the street. When they arrive a Detective Richard Tracy is in charge. The only problem is there is no Detective Dick Tracy? hide show

My first experience with this show. What a wonderful episode and the acting is superb. Kyra Sedgwick is wonderful as Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson.

The main story revolves around the murder of a man that is known as Intrigue. He is a player that tapes himself picking up women and putting the encounters on the internet. His site is making millions. So a TV production company was making a TV show about him called Tapped Out. One of his "fans" puts a bullet in his skull. Things are complicated by the fact that all of the investigation and reports are being done by a psychotic person impersonating police detectives. He has all of the evidence and is staying one step in front of the police and Johnson's squad. It seems the gentleman (Tracy) has passed the detectives entrance exam a number of times but can't pass the psyche test. He has been working security jobs and is always fired from his positions. It is somewhat humorous as the squad has to work around him once they catch up with him.

Of course Chief Pope is concerned that he allowed a non-detective to leave the scene of a crime with all of the evidence. If that ever gets out he would be a laughing stock and probably out of a job. Luckily he has Chief Johnson watching his back.

Brenda Lee works both sides of the case by dealing with Dick Tracy/Jonathan Baird and figuring out who was the murderer of the victim. Between the two sides she manages to find the killer and put the nail in Baird's coffin all without the case going to trial. Therefore saving Chief Pope and putting everything right.

I am really sorry I have not had an opportunity to see this show before now. What a wonderful cast and the production values are great. I will be checking this out from now on. Thanks for reading...

Tapped Out, as shown last night, was a great show. Funny, funny, funny. Andrew Daly was absolutely fabulous as Dick Tracy in this episode. Andrew Daly and Jason O'Mara have been the very best guest stars on the program (in my personal opinion.)

I love the show in general, watch it every week or tape it if I am not available. The cast is so very good together, great personalities. Having a cast that meshes well together seems to be the key for a lasting program.

Thank you, it is a pleasure to watch such an entertaining program.

  • Pope: But what will your division think of me if I submit this untruthful report to the Chief?
Brenda: That you are exactly who you said you wanted to be: Just one of the guys.
    Pope: What does that mean?
Brenda: We lie to you all the time. Everybody does. Robbery Homicide, Vice, Narcotics even Traffic. It's one thing that unites every division of the LAPD. We, we all lie to our boss.
Pope: What am I supposed to answer to that? Thank you?
Brenda: You're welcome. And erm..as far as the respect my division has for you, I can assure you, Will, that nothing has changed from yesterday to today.
    Pope: Honestly?
Brenda: Honestly. So, nitey nite, Crimestopper winks. []
  • Provenza: What?!
    Flynn: What! You're eating fruit!
Provenza: I'm trying to cut back on fatty foods. Lauren says my diet makes me feel old.
