After running the blood test of the blood found on the bottle against the blood of the deceased, assuming that they used a DNA test, they would (more likely than not) know the gender of the person who bled upon the bottle. Why would they need a DNA sample from the wife, mistress, and all the co-workers of the deceased, when they only needed samples of the suspects who are the same gender as the bleeder?
