Back into the past

Andrew Lasky talks to his secretary right before she leaves to go home.
In the elevator everywhere prints of Dali pictures.

In a restaurant at a party with piano music the restaurant owner Robert stops his girlfriend from talking to some stranger. The chef de service tells Robert that one of the bartenders canceled in the last minute. So the owner goes to Henry and orders him to help out. His girlfriend tries to stop him.
Henry is talking to a young and beautiful woman, when Robert joins them and orders Henry to help out since he is family. Henry’s face freezes and refuses the order.
Meanwhile Robert’s girlfriend is serving wine to a couple, but she takes the bottle back, because she thinks the cork is dry. The camera focuses on her fingernail scratching on it.

Outside Lasky is talking over the mobile phone to organize some event. In a park, where he’s alone he opens his executive case and takes out a gun with a limiter and black gloves. He also puts on a black mask.
Then he’s inside a building opening some vault with a decoding device with his flashlight in his moth. He takes out the bottle that was in the evidence, when suddenly another flashlight shows up behind him.

Back at the empty restaurant the alarm goes off. In the basement the dead body lies.

The Evidence
Opening credits run

At Cole’s apartment some beautiful woman sits on his couch, while he prepares a drink. She unplugs his phone and his pager. He feeds the dog, while she turns up the music and gets out of her black dress.

Meanwhile Cole is sitting in an Asian restaurant, where he runs into Emily, who invites him to an egg role. He seats himself next to her. They talk about work. They talk about San Francisco. While they are eating his pager goes off. Duty calls.

Back at Bishop’s apartment everything is prepared for a tête-à-tête, strawberries, chocolate wine. She tells him that he canceled twice and she wants some reward from him now. She starts to undress him. They start kissing on the couch watched by his dog. His pager goes off as well. She doesn’t want any interruptions this time. He tells her that Cole will be here any second and he needs to get dressed, but she puts a piece of chocolate in his mouth, when Cole enters the apartment and sees the two of them on the couch.

Somewhere in the city in the night, Cole and Bishop reach the crime scene. Bishop tells Cole that they need a better system to prevent such events like the one at his apartment. The dead body is in the vault where rare wines are kept, each one in an individual locker at a perfect temperature.
Goldman tells them that there’s nothing on the camera, but tells them how he got in and is disappointed, because earlier people needed time to get in.
Someone had to cover up since the cameras were off.

Cole and Bishop question the owner and his girlfriend. They life next door and heard the alarm. The chef de service informs Robert, the owner that only the 1945 Delfosse is missing. So the owner is very surprised, because he had much more valuable bottles down there; worth only a few hundred dollars. They suspect a fake robbery. The girlfriend tells them, that the nothing in the vault was for sale. She thinks that only Henry might have caused some trouble.

The next day Bishop and Cole talk to Henry, but he tells them that he didn’t do anything and he left after the disagreement at the party. They talk about learning Catalan for wine purposes.

In the car Cole and Bishop talk about the case, when Bishop’s cell rings. He apologizes to her about the events.

In the evidence room, Goldman and Stevens found out about the bullet and the body has fingernail marks. Robert’s girlfriend has long fingernails. The marks are of a sexual origin and not from a fight.

Bishop questions Robert’s girlfriend in the question room. He asks her about the fingernail. She explains that she uses it to test corks. The evidence of a single long fingernail mark at the body confronts her.

In the other questioning room Cole talks to Robert. He tells him that his wife had an affair and plays a tape where she confesses that. She tells them that it was Andrew and she met him once in the restaurant. She tells them that they just talked and after that one night she went with him to a motel to have sex.
They saw each other a few times, but then she found him dead.
Roberts wants his attorneys.

Bishop opens a mail he received that Stevens must have sent to him by mistake, where she write her girlfriend that she found a beautiful, muscular black guy, full of style and she writes “It kills me when he looks at me.”
Bishop thinks that she only can mean him. Cole doesn’t think that it is Bishop, but Bishop is convinced.
At that moment she walks in. She tells Cole that they found out who the victim was. He worked at the modern art museum. She doesn’t even look at Bishop, but he tries to play his charm, but she looks irritated about that.

At the place where Andrew lived Cole and Bishop find an enormous amount of Dali prints. The entire apartment is stuffed with boxes. They find that he has rented a car.

They find the rented car abandoned under a bridge. They break in. They find the bottle in the single refrigerator in the trunk, inside the stolen bottle of wine.

In the lab Goldman and a wine expert start taking a look at the bottle. Cole and Bishop start speculating about the bottle. They open it, but the expert says that it is inside what it is labeled. They start to talk about the temperature to preserve wine: 55 degrees, but the refrigerator shows 65 degrees.
On the way out they pull a joke at some colleague.

In the halls of the department Bishop tells Cole that he has to watch out, since Kazaris is talking to a young attorney. Cole ignores him.

At the museum of modern art, Lasky’s secretary informs Cole and Bishop that Lasky was the curator for the rotating collections. She tells them about some unusual phone calls, because they were discussing trades involving money.

Outside Cole and Bishop speculate about the case.

At Henry’s place Bishop and Cole they question him. He says that he didn’t say anything because of his brother’s girlfriend. He tells them that Robert once attacked him with a wine knife. He shows a mark over the entire arm.

Cole goes to see Goldman. Goldman analysed the glass, but it’s nothing else than glass. The results of the label aren’t back.
Goldman then asks a personal question how he should describe himself on a dating site, because he’s editing his senior love interest’s profile. He did this also before when he closed his notebook back in the morgue. They start to talk about their passed wife’s. Goldman tells Cole that he has to move on, but he won’t be ready, till he did it.

At the office Bishop talks to Kazaris about some drinks.

Down in the lab, Bishop still hits on Stevens, still convinced she was talking about him in that e-Mail. They start to analyse the picture of the label. Might the label be painted? Maybe by some famous artist, even Dali? They start to search for some references at other Dali pictures. They find a match in persistence of memory. It’s piece of this painting. It must be some previous attempt to draw his famous painting. An expert tells them that the label is hand painted. The bottle is worth about 1 million dollars with that label.
Maybe a Catalan fan, where Dali was born, might have wanted it. They inform Robert about it, who goes over to Henry and starts to attack him. Henry grabs the wine knife; they start to fight when Cole and Bishop break in the door. They arrest Henry, who let Lasky in.

Goldman reviews the evidence and the preparations are shown, fallowed by the entire crime.

At the beach Bishop and Cole walk with Bishop’s dog, where Bishop hits on some female dog owners. One gives him his phone number. Then they run into Stevens. She’s walking with her new dog called Churchill. It’s a black pug. She starts to talk to him about his muscles, the big brown eyes and everything. Cole starts to laugh, because it is what Stevens wrote in her e-Mail. Cole makes fun of Bishop.

On his date Goldman and his date enjoy a glass of wine, so does Bishop and his “gym chick”. Stevens writes another Mail to her girlfriend to chat about her dog. She also writes that she met some guy at work, she’s interested in.
