Show Summary

Following several seasons as frequent host for NBC's All-Star Revue , the "great schnozzola" headed up this live variety series from Hollywood. As the proprietor and star of his own nightclub (Club Durant), Jimmy dealt with the employees, customers, and a parade of weekly special guests whoMore dropped in to sing, chat or just be funny. Joining him as regulars were his long-time vaudeville partner Eddie Jackson, the leggy Durante Girls, and musicians and comic foils Jack Roth (pianist) and Jules Buffano (drummer). During the first season, the series aired every other week in rotation with Donald O'Connor's series. (Both were grouped together as Texaco Star Theater , the same title used during the early legendary seasons of The Milton Berle Show .) During the second season, Durante was seen weekly. Each show ended with Durante's now famous closing scene: he walked away from the camera, through a series of spotlights, and says, "Good night, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are." During the summer of 1957, kinescopes of this series were re-run on CBS.
