I actually never have seen The New Statesman before recently... Im delighted to have found it though Rik Mayall is fantastic in this role and absoulutely highlights the stereotypes of a tory. Being a man Im not able to comment, but can understand that so many find him strangely sexy in this show. He's just so nasty, u gotta love him. He has absolutely no respect for anyone & his treatment of the "common man" is hilarious. Add to that the genius of sharing his office with another MP of whom he says "Had you an IQ any lower, we'd have to start watering you" Anyway Im hooked on this show and cant reccomend it more and am so happy to see

I really don't know much about politics, but you don't have to!
B'stard an his friends poke fun at brittish politics with great ease, basically making fun of themselves and the rest of the upperclass but they remember the working class and make sure that they get a good rosting from time to time. Its dirty, crude, stupid and wonderful. All the characters are perfect and just add to the hilarity of the ignorant MP's! If you love Rik Mayall and all his other programmes then you must watch this, and if you love any brittish humour this is for you!

A great British comedy. If this is a show that you do not normally watch and you are sitting at home with nothing to do, you are going to wish you had it on tape. Having it "on tape" had become the generic term for recorded programs. Today you are more likely to have the show on Tivo or DVR than VHS, or god forbid Beta!! It is kind of like how a lot of people still call CD's "records" or "albums." Anyway, back to the show. This is the type of show that is really pretty good if you would just give it a chance. So on those cold, lonely, rainy days, pop in your tape or DVR or whatever if you were smart enough to tape it. If not, check to see if it is on as a re-run. After all, as they say, if you have never seen it, it is new to you.
