Blackboard Joke: The capital of Montana is not "Hannah".
Couch Gag: As the family sits down on the couch, the camera starts to pull back from the living room, then Earth, outer space, galaxies, DNA, skin cells, and then Homer's head, causing Homer to say, "Weird." (edit)

(Grampa suggests that Homer should go see Professor Frink to help him remember what happened the night before.)
Homer: Really? Oh, that's great, Dad. How can I ever repay you?
Grampa: Punch that orderly who takes sips out of my juice.
Homer: Done.
(Cut to Homer punching an orderly who is about to make a bed.)
Grampa: No, wait. That's the guy that saved my life. (edit) Homer: Strap me in, nerd!
Professor Frink: To me, "nerd" stands for Not Even Remotely Dorky. So thank you. Thank you for the compliment. (edit) (Homer assumes the worst when he sees Marge on the couch with Duffman.)
Homer: The mother of my children with the reason for my children! (edit) Homer: Dad, I can't remember what I did last night. Do have any idea?
Grampa: You come to me for help rememberin'? That's like asking your horse to do your taxes--Which I did in 1998. (Shows photo of horse using an adding machine.) (edit) (Homer seeks Flanders help to find out what happened to him.)
Homer: Flanders, why did you call the cops last night?
Ned: I had to--I heard a hubbub, Bub.
Homer: What did I do?!
Ned: Well, I can't say for sure, but as a Christian, I assume the worst. (edit)

Contact
The Couch Gag featured in this episode is an homage to the opening shot from the 1997 film Contact. (edit) Hannah Montana
The Blackboard Joke for this episode, "The capital of Montana is not 'Hannah'", references the popular Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana. (edit) The Fountain
The way Homer travels through his memories in his bubble is similar to the way Hugh Jackman's character travels in Darren Aronofsky's 2006 film, The Fountain. (edit) The Game
The scene where Homer falls off the bridge is much like the scene from the 1997 movie The Game, where Michael Douglas jumps off a building, his life flashes before his eyes and ends up in a moon bounce his friends had set up, waiting for him to drop in at his birthday party. (edit) Miller High Life
While planning for Homer's surprise party, Duffman plugs the new Duff Champagne, "The Beer of Champagnes." Duff Champagne's tagline is a parody of Miller High Life's tag line: "The Champagne of Beers." (edit)
