- Goof: In this episode Marge says her birthday is in May, but in Episode 395 "Marge Gamer" she states that she shares a birthday with Randy Quaid, which would make her birthday October 1st. edit »
- Dan Castellaneta and Richard Dean Anderson previously worked together on the Stargate SG-1 episode "Citizen Joe," in which through a device they could see each other's lives. edit »
- Homer: This isn't India! Where's the University of Notre Dame? The Indy 500? Wrigley Field? Dodger Dogs? edit »
- Patty: He's escaped!
Selma: We'll be busted for kidnapping. I can't face jail.
Patty: I can. edit » - Patty: Richard Dean Anderson!
Selma: Why did you come back?
Richard Dean Anderson: To tell you how I escaped. edit » - Richard Dean Anderson: My real-life escape from your love dungeon was the most exciting thing I've ever done.
Patty: It was?
Richard Dean Anderson: Tie me up so I can do it again. But this time don't make it so easy.
(The sisters enthusiastically tie RDA to a chair. Selma knocks him on the head with a hammer, leaving him dazed.)
Selma: Too much?
Patty: Not for MacGyver.
(Knocks RDA out cold.) edit » - Richard Dean Anderson: Okay, here's the plan. You lock me in the trunk of a car and park it under the pier at low tide. All I need are these everyday objects: a nail file, a Farmers' Almanac, a gun with no bullets, some bullets and three of my MacGyver writers. edit »
- Guard: Behind one of these doors is Homer Simpson, behind the other a Bengal tiger. Choose wisely.
This is a reference to the short story The Lady Or The Tiger by Frank Stockton. A man must choose between two doors--behind one is a tiger, behind the other a beautiful woman. It's left to the reader's imagination what the outcome was. edit » - Homer: You're giving me absolute power?
Smithers: Sir, doesn't that corrupt?
Mr. Burns: Absolutely not!
This is a play on the famous quote, attributed to nineteenth century historian, Lord Acton: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." edit » - Mr. Burns: No office talk; I'm floating down the Ganges with my new chums.
Smithers: Those are corpses!
The Ganges River is sacred to Hindus, believed to aid the dead on their path toward the next life, and so it is a traditional funereal practice to deposit partially cremated remains in the river to this end. Those unable to afford cremation are often deposited whole. edit » - Johnny Mera Naam
The song that everyone dances to at the end of the episode is from Johnny Mera Naam (1970) starring Dev Anand, Hema Malini, and Pran. The song is called "Pal Bhar Ke Liye", and is sung by the legendary Kishor Kumar and Usha Khanna. edit » - When Richard Dean Anderson stated "It was just a paycheck" It is reminiscent of the Saturday Night Live skit where William Shatner told fans at a Star Trek convention to "get a life" and "it was just a TV show." edit »
