With the recent and steady decline in ratings, you can bet Fox will not renew Simpsons for a season 21 if the ratings don't increase soon. The last 2 episodes of Season 19 were the lowest in the HISTORY of the series. That doesn't bode well for the future of the show.

We already know the writers have reached a deal, so Season 20 is definitely on. However, let's hope the decline was just a result of the writer's strike and not out of loss of interest of the viewership. It's scary to say, but right now it doesn't look good for the show's future.

Wasn't Season 20 supposed to be the final season?

One question...do you know if the 4 more years is the last 4 years of The Simpsons? Or is that just until they redo a contract?

Good news though, there will be at least 4 more years of The Simpsons.

I was about to post this. Wow Dan Castellneta being Consulatant Producer is interesting. Is one writer leaving?

It should be noted that just because the principal voice actors have inked a 4 year deal does not guarantee that the show will be on for 4 more years. Currently FOX has renewed The Simpsons for a 20th season. Anything beyond that is not concrete.

I hope the show is axed after this season. The Simpsons is pretty much dead in the water at this point.
