The start of this episode, with Bart trying to fit a whole summer into one day, was originally from "I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can", but it was cut to save time and was finally aired here, which explains Bart saying he's only kissed one girl.
(edit)

Lisa: I'm so glad you could all come. I will be reading to you from The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.
Nelson: Oh. I thought we were gonna light spiders on fire.
Dolph: (in the next room) We're over here! (edit) Miss Hoover: Class, the town has spoken. From now on we're only teaching one theory: creationism. Now please hand in your evolution books to Groundskeeper Willie while I beat this ominous drum. (edit) Barney: Homer's son's sister is right! (edit) Todd: Daddy, was Mommy a monkey? I can't remember.
Ned: No one was ever a monkey! Everything is what it was and always will be! God put us here and that's that!
Todd: But you said a stork brought me.
Ned: Umm...that was God disguised as a stork.
Rod: Then who brings baby storks?
Ned: There's no such thing as storks! It's all God!
Todd: (Kneeling beside a statue of a stork) Please bless Daddy and Roddy...
Ned: Stop praying to that stork! (edit) Clarice Dremond: This trial is the biggest load of… Oh for crying out loud!
Wallace Bravy: Now Bambi, who started that forest fire that killed your mother? Evolution?! My my my… (edit)

Ned: We want you to teach alternative theories to Darwinian Evolution.
Principal Skinner: You mean Lamarckian Evolution?
Jean Baptiste de Lamarck (1784-1829) was a French scientist, who in 1809 published the "Philosophie zoologique" in which he explains the theory that mutations in individuals are caused by a preexisting "wish" from that individual to change. He also claims that acquired traits in an individual can be inherited by the next generation. Today, we know this not to be true, but Lamarck was actually acknowledged by, among others, Darwin as a great zoologist. (edit) Men in Black
The summer blockbuster Bart watches is a parody of the 1997 film Men in Black. (edit) Get Smart!
The black puzzle piece transition between scenes was also used in the final season of the sitcom Get Smart!. (edit) The Bad News Bears/The Natural
Bart's game winning home run has references to two famous baseball movies. First the coach sounds like Walter Matthau's broken down Little League coach in the 1976 film The Bad News Bears and then his game winning home run causes fireworks to ignite a la a similar scene from Robert Redford's 1984 film The Natural. (edit)
