You Kent Always Say What You WantEpisode Number: 400 Season Num: 18 First Aired: Sunday May 20, 2007 Prod Code: JABF15 |
Itchy and Scratchy: Scratchy is walking down the street and sees a lady made out of dynamite. Apparently not realizing this, he kisses her and she explodes and dismembers him. Itchy picks up the pieces and juggles them, entertaining a crowd of passers-by.
(edit)
In lieu of a blackboard or couch gag, one of the original shorts from almost 20 years ago on The Tracey Ullman Show is shown featuring Homer trying to get everyone to pose for a family picture. This short originally aired in the second season of Tracey's show on 6 Mar 1988.
(edit)
FOX Newscaster: It seems liberals want to give NASA the right to abort space missions whenever they feel like it!
(edit)
Homer: Marge, the couch is lumpy!
Kent: That's because you're sitting on me, you lummox! (edit) (At the dentist)
Homer: Aaaah! It hurts so much!
Dental Hygienist: I haven't even started yet!
Homer: I know, but a breeze from that window went in my mouth! (edit) Homer: Hey suckers, check it out! Marge is taking me to ride dirt bikes at the cemetery.
Lisa: You're going to the dentist too, Dad.
Homer: (Thoughtfully) Why the cemetery? I wondered. But my dreams were too strong. (edit) Lisa: One thing I've always wondered… How can Fox News be so conservative when the Fox Network keeps airing raunchy shows? They don't fit together.
(Lisa then proceeds to flips channels between Fox News and Fox Network until Kent Brockman takes the remote control away from her.)
Kent: Fox deliberately runs shows that will earn them huge fines which are then funneled through the F.C.C. straight to the Republican Party. Everybody in the media knows it, but no one has the guts to say it. (edit) Homer: Apu sang a song, what are you gonna do? (edit) Homer: I'm sorry Marge, but I won't live under the same roof as a member of the liberal media!
Marge: You'll have to excuse him, he's been watching a lot of Fox News.
Homer: Did you know that every day Mexican gays sneak into this country and unplug our brain-dead ladies? (edit) Marge: (Trying to start the car) It won't start! I'll have to use Homer's AAA card. (Looks at the card) "American Applesauce Association"? (edit)

Music from this episode

Snickels (Snickers)
Gooey Bears (Gummy Bears)
Charlottesville Chew (Charleston Chew)
Nice & Many (Good & Plenty)
Kat Kit (Kit Kat)
Hershel's Smooches (Hershey's Kisses)
Mrs. Badbar (Mr. Goodbar)
Milk Dudes (Milk Duds) (edit) The Simpsons have a "Wall of casual acquaintances who came to stay for a while" which lists Artie Ziff (The Ziff who came to Dinner), Apu Nahasapeemapetilon (Homer and Apu, The Two Mrs.Nahasapeemetilons), Krusty the Clown (Krusty gets Kancelled), Groundskeeper Willie (My Fair Laddie), Nelson Muntz (Sleeping with the Enemy), Robert "Sideshow Bob" Underdunk Terwilliger (The Great Louse Detective), Otto Mann (The Otto Show), Kang (or Kodos) (Who have not stayed with them although they are on the picture), Gil Gunderson (Kill Gil Volumes 1 and 2) and Stampy (Bart Gets an Elephant). Kent Brockman (This episode) will be added to it. Kodos eventually stayed with the Simpsons for a while in "Treehouse of Horror XVIII". (edit) When Marge and Maggie run through the park full of dogs, one of the dogs is Laddie, the expensive dog Bart bought in "The Canine Mutiny." (edit) The evil Leprechaun made another appearance in the St. Patrick's Day parade when Marge stole his beer. (edit) This episode isn't the first time Kent has dropped the F-bomb. He said it in the season 5 episode, "Bart's Inner Child", although it was bleeped out. (edit) This is the second time that Kent Brockman utters a swear word on live TV, and gets in trouble for it. The first time was in "Krusty Gets Kancelled" when he calls the viewers SOBs, while the camera is still rolling. (edit)

Abe has a long list of things that people supposedly couldn't say on TV in his day. One of them is "LBJ," the initials of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the President of the United States from 1963 to 1969.

Midnight Cowboy
When Kent is packing up after being fired from his job, the music playing is reminiscent of the scene in Midnight Cowboy where Joe and Rizzo are wandering the streets. (edit) Landing Strip
The new Fox reality show about 15 strippers that run their own airline is a play on a term used to describe a certain type of waxing. (edit) Star Wars
On one wall of Kent Brockman's office is a picture showing him interviewing R2-D2, known from the Star Wars movies. (edit) Menance II Society
The video shown at the dentist titled "Menace Tooth Society" is an allusion to Albert and Allen Hughes' Menace II Society (1993). The video itself has numerous rap references from the 80's and 90's, including:
"Baby got Bacteria" a parody of "Baby got Back by Sir Mix-a-lot; "I'm down with O.P.P." a parody of "O.P.P." by Naughty by Nature; and Ludacrest toothpaste, a reference to the rap artist Ludacris. (edit) Rush Limbaugh
While not mentioned by name, the liberal-hating commentator on "Fox News" is clearly based on Rush Limbaugh, who frequently appears on that channel. (edit) Raising Arizona
Marge's adventurous run through Springfield, especially the music, is reminiscent of this 1987 Coen brothers' film. (edit) Good Night and Good Luck
The scene where Kent rants on the web about the government is an allusion to this film. (edit) The episode title is a play on the Rolling Stones song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want." (edit)
