Steven Brooks, who works at the Cutting Edge Catalogue company, must create an entry for a strange black object he cannot identify. When his workday ends, he still hasn't identified the object, so he leaves before the annoying office messenger, Dennis, makes his take it back. Brooks comes back home to his Glendale garage apartment, where he begins to act out his pop culture inspired fantasies, until Victor, the landlord, reminds him that he has to pay his rent and then show up for a dinner date with a schoolteacher named Martha. Then Dennis returns the object to Steven and demands the entry in 32 minutes. Steven still can't identify the object and get distracted playing with it, only to find the landlord's daughter, Wendy, demand the rent, threatening to drive her car into his apartment otherwise. As Steven goes back to work he still gets distracted, this time he picks up a banjo and sings. This infuriates his neighbor Mr. Troller, who called the police. However, when the cop arrives, he notices Steven's guitar and the two begin to play "Louie Louie." Finally Martha arrives and apologizes for being late. Dennis shows up demanding the entry, but thanks to Martha, Steven finally identifies the object. As he and Martha sit down to dinner, Wendy arrives, prompting Steven to grab his checkbook as the show ends. Read full recap »
