Would anyone care to speculate about the increasing amount of time being spent on the "hot" topics? I've got a couple of theories that might explain it.

One, "guests" are declining appearances or not asking to appear. I understand that the hard sofa section is uncomfortable, but the grilling the guest gets upon coming out is largely gratuitous and almost certainly not what the guests expect to talk about. There are simply many more amiable shows to visit for the promotional efforts being made. Which would you rather visit: The view for a grilling or Rachel Ray for a nice chat across the kitchen table and perhaps a grilled something for lunch?

Two, polling or viewer input has expressed a preference for the topics subjects, so more are being shown to "give the public what it wants." Does anyone know of a celebrity who has been denied a visit to the show? Was the reason cited as "we're too busy for you?" I actually like to see the all hot topics banner at the beginning of the show. It means I can ignore the whole hour and not have to wait around for the more interesting guest(s) to appear.

Any others? Do you think there's any utility to either or both of these theories? Finally, why are the hot topics ALWAYS at the beginning? Couldn't other segments be mixed together in different sequence? I know, I'm NOT the producer. I've already mentioned what irks me about the show.

Actually, I don't think they are having any problems booking celebrities.....I think that the hot topics coverage is a response to what viewers would like to hear. This is election season and that seems to be the hot topic on everyone's mind. I enjoy the questions for the guests.

They stated that people like to hear the "Hot Topics" only show. So, they started to do that one day a week About Hot Topics being first always, it's because it's the proper way to do it. Hot Topics is Current Events. If it's so HOT why put it at the ending of the program?

Hypothetically, lets say Hot Topics is at the ending of the show, and the other segments(Guest, singing and there usual crazy segs). Here it goes: You got your Crazy Segs first. The crowd is pump. Then You give your Guest spot on. They love the guest they have on there(By this time, they want to see the singing act). Now you have the singing act perform. Ok. Now, they perform the "Hot Topics". But here's the thing, you have all those crowd pleasing segments first, that the crowd would likely get bored with ladies just talking about Current Events. In the back of some people mind would be "If this is called Hot Topics discussing current events, why is it at the end of the show?". Hot Topics isn't so "Hot" now, is it?

That's why, Hot Topics is at the beginning. With a name called "Hot Topics" and is describe by Current Events, it's going to be a eye catcher, and people will want to see that first. That, and you will rarely see a segment that is dealing with Current Events not at the first part of the show. Regis and Kelly has the same format as The View, and even Tyra Banks Show has it in the same format It's just the way it works

The main reason I watch The View is to see what the Hot Topics are. I enjoy the Hot Topics! To me that's the best part of the show! As for the guest some I am eager to watch. some I am not. The presidental candidates were informative.

I like the "Hot Topics" and wish it was longer. What I like is the honesty and the honest, spontaneous reactions from the ladies of the view. These ladies are not uninformed about what is going on in this country. You have a honest interaction, I know they during their pre-show meeting, discuss what they want to share and bring up during hot topics, from statements they make about one that of the Ladies wanted to bring this up. They speak their opinions that people want to jump on and then try and degrade their statements as though they do not know what they are talking about. I think that is because they stepped on someone's toes(MSM). To bad, these women are more like we are than the big corporate controlled main stream media. I watch some of the quest, but I mainly watch it for the hot topics. I like hearing how I feel being said. The View I hope have many many years to come. GO LADIES!
