Nancy, the National Security Advisor refers refers to the crew of the submarine as sub-mariners, pronouncing it like the comic book character or the baseball team with "sub" in front of it. The president later repeats this. While he might not know better, she should. The preferred pronunciation of submariners among Navy crews is to say it like submarine with an "r" at the end, like submarine-er. edit »
