The X-Files - The best sci-fi series on televison! hide show

At first glance,The X-Files never caught my eye, I used to watch a show before it was on and caught the start. But then I started to watch it more and loved Mulder's dry humour and the partnership between Mulder and Scully. I was absolutley drawn in by the chilling storylines that kept me on the edge of my seat everytime! The plots where the government tries to cover up the conspiracies and Mulder and Scully finding the truth were my favourite because the themes are so deep and it made you question everything and made you think differently. The relationship between Mulder and Scully can't be compared to any other partnership and you couldn't have picked better actors than David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to play the part. Their on-screen chemistry, in my opinion, makes the show what it is. The dangers they face and their trust in one another kept me hooked and David and Gillians portrayl of Mulder and Scully just blew me away! The special effects and music used on the show were brilliant. The effects used to make people look the part - whether it was looking dead, alien-like or just plain scary sent shivers down by spine everytime! The music that goes along with a scene is simply amazing and sends emotions sky high!

The X-Files is an amazing show that covers all aspects of drama and sci-fi and the right amount of comedy to make one hell of a series! I am currently in the process of collecting all the seasons - And i'll never ever get tired of watching them :)

It's almost hard to fathom how amazing this show is. Never have I been so taken aback by the pure genius of a televion show. If I could only watch one television show for the rest of my life, hands down, I would choose to watch The X-Files. hide show

Honestly, it's stunning how Chris Carter was able to create such a piece of art. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny couldn't have been better picks for Mulder and Scully. They work together beautifully, I find myself feeling as though their problems were my own. Never before have I been so touched by a show. It's an understatement to say that Anderson and Duchovny have an amazing talent for acting. Every episode is brilliant. The plot is beyond engrossing. Even if you know how the episode ends, you still find yourself on the edge of your seat worrying that Mulder and Scully won't escape. The endings are never what you think. There is nothing predictable about the storyline. When you think you've figured it all out, you had better be ready to be wrong. Episodes can be sad, hilarious, scary, serious, and even disturbing. And no matter the mood of the episode, I can guarantee you that it will be a fantastic episode.

It saddens me to know that I was too young to enjoy The X-Files when it was first on TV. But with all 9 seasons on DVD, I've found myself watching them all day. To be honest, I couldn't think of a day better spent. No, that's a lie, a better spent day would be one in which I was hanging out with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, watching The X-Files.

Even if you aren't a fan of the genre, you will find yourself in love with The X-Files, that's a promise.

X-Files -- One of the great shows of the 1990's. The only reason I cannot give this show a higher rating is because of the mediocre last few seasons. hide show

The X-Files television show had (and still has) a cult following worldwide. During the 1990's X-File mania swept the globe - particularly the United States and Japan, according to TV rating reports at the time. The X-Files was created by screenwriter Chris Carter. . It first aired in September 1993 and ended in May 2002.

In the series, FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are the investigators of X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder is a believer in the existence of aliens and the paranormal, while Scully, a skeptic, is assigned to make scientific analyses on Mulder's discoveries. Early in the series both agents become pawns in a larger conflict (termed the "mythology" or "mytharc" by the producers), and come to trust only each other. They develop a close relationship, which begins as a platonic friendship, but develops into a romantic relationship by the end of the series' run. In addition to the long-term story arc, "monster of the week" episodes made up roughly two-thirds of the series. In such stand-alone X-Files episodes, Mulder and Scully investigated bizarre crimes with few long-term implications on the storyline. The X-Files had become the longest-running science fiction series in US broadcast television history (thank you Wiki for that, and other interesting tidbits), keeping that title until the hit show Stargate SG-1 made it rounds on the Sci Fi Channel (now called the SyFy Channel).

The X-Files has had an amazing influence, both on popular culture, as well as an impact on hit science fiction shows that followed the X-Files.

I'm sure people will be watching (and watching) the X-Files for many years to come!

The X-Files may have saved my life.
In the inimitable words of Sarah Palin, "I kid you not.".
I owe Chris Carter a sincere debt of gratitude... as well as David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
I loved and will always love The X-Files. hide show

I'm always late. I was late to "The X-Files". I didn't have a television set (my own choice) until about the third year into the series. I finally gave in one day and acquired one of the evil little boxes. Shortly afterward, I unexpectedly stumbled upon the dynamic duo of Special Agent Fox Mulder and Special Agent Dana Scully... and after seeing a few episodes, I could have kicked myself for missing those first three years.

Luckily, I was able to catch up on those first three years of episodes, once the show was syndicated. But, even today, if I come across a DVD of The X-Files, I scan it carefully... looking for an episode title or storyline that I don't recognize, just in case I find that there was an episode that I had missed.

For me, "The X-Files" stands alone as a modern classic of science fiction. It is terrific storytelling. It's folklore mixed with legend mixed with campfire stories mixed with ghost stories mixed with Ripley's... mixed with The Truth, here-and-there. When it was scary, it was cover-your-eyes/"I can't watch" scary. Most episodes - and the ongoing storyline - were consistently written with wit and humor as well as thoughtful intelligence and hold-your-breath suspense.

The casting of Duchovny and Anderson was brilliant, as they shared great on-screen chemistry and displayed great acting chops. Agents Scully and Mulder - as characters - were beautifully written and were fleshed-out. They weren't made into pseudo-superheroes, they were both utterly human... each with their own positive and negative character traits and the frailties of two human beings.

I love "The X-Files" and I will always love "The X-Files". I'd highly recommend it to anyone with a brain... particularly if you have any interest in unusual phenomena/extraordinary experiences. Or, even just to watch something several notches above (and much more interesting than) so-called "Reality" shows.

In my humble opinion, "The X-Files" is Extraordinary Television.

How did "The X-Files" save my life?
Well... It's kind of personal... you know... between Chris Carter and I...
O.K. ~ Let's just say that I shared a harrowing and horrifying experience with one of the characters in one episode. (I'll not be more specific than that.)
But, there were two distinct differences between my horrible experience and his: In the show, his experience only lasted about a month. My real-life experience, unfortunately, went on for years.
    The other difference?
He - the tormented character - eventually killed someone because of what he was experiencing.
I, on the other hand, refrained from spilling anyone's blood because of what I was experiencing.
Which made me feel so much better about the way I was dealing with certain events... "Hey, at least I haven't killed anyone."

To someone, like myself, who occasionally has extraordinary experiences, "The X-Files" was not just entertaining and thrilling...
But, it also helped me to feel better about my experiences - both because of how differently (and much better) I dealt with the inexplicable and often unsettling events in my life and also that it showed me - at a time that I felt alone in the universe - that someone else knew about things that I experienced... that I wasn't entirely alone.
