    A great sci-fi show. hide « show »

This is truly a great sci-fi show. I enjoy watching it over and over and over again. I can watch the same episode 2 or 3 times in a row just so I can catch things that I might have missed. I think I have all of the episodes recorded and I watch them whenever there is nothing good on TV. It is always entertaining to me. I will also have my friends and family watch the episodes with me and try and get them hooked. So far everyone has because it is that good of a show. Look for it on the air or come over to my house and watch my DVD's.

A Fifth Season Review hide « show »

    Fifth Season Review

This season marks a dramatic change for the show. Not only has the cast and episode order been cut in half, but so are the stories. From this season on, there are no more than six episode per season, and only the final season will have more than two parts.

Without any explanation, Stephen and Tyso have disappeared from the show. Stephen, who had been with the show since its inception doesn’t even get a throw away line that Carol, Kenny, or even Tricia got.

Though it’s sad to see them leave, it probably was a good thing. The show tends to work better with three main characters. Characters like Kenny, Tyso, and later Hsu Ti, were greatly underused and often superfluous to the story.

Season five (or series 5) is arguably the darkest season for the show. In just six episodes, the TPs face death, child slavery, the devil, and even each other. Comedy, which had even been present in dark episodes like the “Blue and the Green,” is virtually nonexistent this season.

When Mike joined the cast last season, he was brash and did what he wanted despite the direction from the other TPs. This season, such actions cause dire and mortal consequences that had never been explored by the show.

Because the three stories are in two parts now, there are a lot of plot devices to keep the story moving (i.e. Mike is inexplicably knocked out after a push on his chest). In fact, most aren’t that glaring or distracting upon first view.

Although one thing that was quite distracting was Elizabeth Adare. She’s actually pregnant during this season, and as much as they try to hide it, it’s clear that by the “Heart of Sogguth,” she is at least six or seven months pregnant.

In fact, it’s kind of fun watching how they try to disguise it. They have her in dresses that aren’t too flattering, they put her in bulky woolen sweaters, or she has her arms crossed. My favorite has to be in “A Much Needed Holiday.” You see her swimming in extremely murky water and they when she gets out, not only does she never face the camera, but she then puts on this oversized and bulky terrycloth robe that I have never seen in real life!

Though there are some foibles, this is probably one of the show’s best seasons.
These stories are strong stories and very unforgettable. Because of the events in “The Dirtiest Business,” “The Heart of Sogguth” is scary and unpredictable.

I love this show!! hide « show »

I love this show sooo much...it reminds me of when I was a kid!! I own Vol. and I am waiting for Vol. 2 from Amazon. The stories are funny because the special effects are so bad. But overall it is just a fun show and the eps always have a cliffhanger. It's just what I like to call "Old School" fun kinda like Atari.

Should have been on longer.... hide « show »

Although the show had a very short run, I must say that this was one of the best series on Nickelodeon. Very creative, very interesting show. I couldn't wait for each new episode. There were some awkward things about the show, like how they ended up in the ocean when they got teleported, but on the whole it was awesome.
