Lifetime Television kicked-off their annual slate of romantic cheer with "Christmas A La Mode," starring Katie Leclerc on November 15th. The storyline follows Emily (Leclerc), who steps-up to run her family's dairy farm with the help of ...

Help Wanted: Looking for Romcoms That Won't Make Me Want to Barf.
I have to admit, I've never been much of a romcom kind of girl. Give me an action movie where people are being blown up! Give me a horror movie with lots of guts and gore! But a romcom? BARF!

Sure, there are a few that have slipped through my cold shell. I could watch When Harry Met Sally on repeat all day long (let's face it, I probably have!). I screen He's Just Not That Into You every time a guy breaks my heart (finally I had to just buy the damn DVD!) That scene with the boombox from Say Anything gives me chills every time I see it. I've had my fair share of "I like you just as you are" fantasizes about Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones's Diary.

But generally speaking, I find romcoms unrealistic, sappy, and laughably dumb. Recently I challenged ...Read more

Happy (Almost) Singles Awareness Day! What Movie Will You Drown Your Sorrows in This Year? (POLL)
Wait, I'm not jaded about Valentine's Day, I swear. Okay, okay, you win. I'm not a big fan. How could you tell?

I generally believe that you should treat your loved ones well EVERY day, not just on February 14th. But my personal feelings aside, let's face it: this is a big weekend for going to the movies. Whether you need to figure out what to do on a date or you need to figure out where to cry in the dark (I'm kidding...kind of), the cinema is a perfect option!

So what's your VDay movie of choice? Romcom (gag!), action movie, or tear-jerker? You certainly have your pick! Let's take a look at some of the bigger releases and then vote below!

This is a great one to pick if you want to impress your guy or if you just ...Read more

Done, Redone: For Better or For Worse?
Sometimes I get surprised when something seemingly new hits the big screen. Only to be educated that it's a remake of a classic movie. This must be a generation issue.

Or a financial deal?

Let's look at some of my picks.

The Mechanic (2011)

I watched the 2011 ...Read more

A Big Bundle Of Movie Goodies
The tentpole/flagship/blockbuster season, (I'm sure there are more definitions, but you get my meaning), seems to start earlier and earlier as time goes by, and the promo process is non stop. Here are some official trailers, promo clips and some not so official videos.

Top 20 Film Scores: Do You Agree?
What would movies be without the musical scores. Some movies are pretty much defined by it. I am a huge fan of Ennio Morricone and I will watch the Spaghetti Westerns at least twice a year and enjoy them as one long music clip. And although scores are sometimes replaced or enhanced by other sounds (the first movie to do without any conventional incidental score was ‘Birds’ from Alfred Hitchcock), it remains one of the major defining characteristics of movies.

Recently, while watching a BBC quiz, I ran into the fact that there was a BBC top 20 of film scores and looked it up. I had seen 16 of them, even had the scores of some at home, but didn’t know the bottom ones. At least they got me to think about my favourite ones.

The vote was part of the BBC’s Sound Of Cinema, a season ...Read more
