What would you do if you could relive a day? If you're TRU DAVIES (Eliza Dushku), you'd save lives. Tru is a smart and sexy recent college graduate who - when her high-powered medical internship falls through - finds herself working the midnight shift at the city morgue. One night, Tru questions reality when she thinks she hears a murder victim asking for her help. But the next morning, our heroine wakes up to find that she is back at the beginning of that very same day - twelve hours before a death that only she knows about is set to take place.

Now with the clock ticking, Tru is compelled to traverse the city over the next twelve hours to try to prevent this tragedy, while at the same time trying to rescue members of her own family from their dangerous and self-destructive lives.

With the sexiness and speed of "Run Lola Run," plus the ticking clock suspense of 24, Tru Calling puts a stylish new spin on the procedural crime format as Tru uses her newfound ability to try to stop tragedies before they actually happen.

In the series, Tru is surrounded by HARRISON (Shawn Reaves), her handsome and charming younger brother who has a knack for finding trouble; MEREDITH (Jessica Collins), their older sister who has a great career and money, but battles drug addiction; LINDSAY (A.J. Cook), Tru's loyal but unsuspecting best friend; and DAVIS (Zach Galifianakis), the quirky morgue staffer Tru works with on the graveyard shift.

In the middle of the first season, we were introduced to a new character named Jack Harper(Jason Priestly), who plays a new morgue attendent, who seems to have a strange effect on Tru's abilities when he's around. Tru discovers that he also has the power to go back in time...only he is her true universal opposite, which means he wants the people to STAY dead...

The pilot episode was directed by renowned filmmaker Phillip Noyce. Tru Calling is a production of 20th Century Fox Television and Original Film and was created by executive producer/writer Jon Harmon Feldman. Marty Adelstein, Neal Moritz, Dawn Parouse and R. W. (Bob) Goodwin are also executive producers.

  Is Tru a nickname? I've wondered if her given name was Truman, since her brother is named Harrison (I thought maybe her mother liked Presidents' names), or even if her name was the very un-trendy Gertrude? Or is this a fan fiction question?

There are also those who liked the firefighter best, but he was a small character so I figure he can go under "Other". I like Jensen best.   A young women develops an interesting power. hide « show »

  This show provided the perfect role for Eliza because she is incredibly beautiful and really good at action roles, but seems to have a limited emotional range. My problem with her in Dollhouse is that she lacks the ability to portray so many different characters but because Tru is so custom fit to her she does a really good job. The way she relives day and works at a morgue is an interesting twist on the groundhog day idea and it works really well with her job. The supporting cast also makes this show good. Her boss is quirky in just the right amount, not pushing it too far and as the show delves into his backstory his character only becomes more likable. Her brother also provides a lot of comic relief for the show. Her boyfriend however really ruined an entire season for me with his horrible acting and weak story line. Jason Priesly was great as the bad guy and he brought a very existentialist turn to the show which I wished they would of been able to continue. Too bad it was canceled, but it was good while it lasted

  Tru has changed my life!!
  you cant imagine how much i love this show! it changed my life completly ! tru has gave me a big challenge to solve and manage my problems ! it gave me a meaning of life! it makes me feel happy every time i watched the show! i cant stop watching it even if its a 5th oor 10th time of the same episode!
  people can feel succeed once and can feel the hope once and that show had gave me want i need to achieve successful, to improve myself and enough strength to be
  a positive person and face the life. :)

  I want More!!!!!You really need to bring it back! I don't understand why the shows that are so great always seem to be taken off the air so fast.   BRING IT BACK! hide « show »

  I've just finished watching the 26 episodes on dvd, I am just so disappointed with how it ends with no real conclusion. There is no lack of storyline and with things left just hanging it is frustrating.
  
  Who was the good side or bad side or not as clean cut as that? Will we ever know, c'mon guys!
  
  There appears to be no lack of fans out there. Really good show, with great core characters. They could even bring it back set a few years down the line and explain what happened. So much better than most stuff on tv right now.

  one of the better shows that's no longer on tv hide « show »

  I started catching this show after it was cancelled on the sci-fi channel. I liked it a lot. So i netflix to entire series. Have not actually finished it yet but i can honestly say Fox threw away a gold mine of a good show. The characters, like many of my favorite shows, make this show worth watching. I love Tru Davies character and her "calling" is interesting. It really gets interesting half way through the first season when a couple of plot twists are revealed as well as at the end of the season. I also really like the interaction between Tru and her younger brothe, as well as Tru and Jack.
  
  Fox brought back Family Guy, now bring back Tru Calling.
