Star Wars
Numerous Star Wars references:
- The episode starts with the group watching a bootleg DVD of the movies.
- Gimpy relates frat guys and nerds as mortal enemies akin to Jedi and Sith.
- Gimpy calls Rocko "Anakin Skyrocko", a play on Anakin Skywalker.
- When Gimpy briefs his men, he uses a set-up like that in A New Hope, even quoting the movie by said "Many Bothans died for this information, so let's put it to good use."
- Gimpy relates Rocko to Lando Calrissian at the end of the episode. (edit) Aliens
Gimpy's set-up for viewing his minions when they infiltrate the frat, and their ensuing foray into the home, is a parody of the movie Aliens. Mump even quotes a line said by Hudson, a marine portrayed by Bill Paxton, from the movie: "Game over man! Game over!" (edit) Barnes and Nobel/Boarders
State U's bookstore is called "Barn and Boarder", a play on real rival corporations Barnes and Nobles and Borders bookstores. (edit) Warren Burger
The character Chief Justice Burger is a reference to Chief Justice Warren Burger. (edit) The Flintstones
In Rocko's state of delusion caused by drinking bad clam juice, he sees Mump as the alien visitor Gazoo and says, "Oh Great Gazoo, what should I do?"
Gazoo comes from the Hanna-Barbara show The Flinstones. Gazoo was a strange little alien that could only be seen by Fred and Barney and gave them advice in their lives. This similarly happens here, although Rocko misinterrprets it. (edit)
