It's the space at the top of your profile. Yours is currently black with your username in the left corner. Many users upload their own banner to replace the plain black default one.

Are you saving the image to your computer, or trying to copy/paste? You can't do that. You'll need to save the image to your computer, then upload it to an imagehosting site (like photobucket) then use the URL provided to upload here.
I tried several times to upload my photo from my PC. The size was OK but it insists on trying to be a 'URL' even though it says 'Or upload your own'. This tells me that I CAN upload an image from MY PC and that I DON'T have to use a photo hosting web site. If I'm wrong please fill me in and if I'm correct please tell me why my photo isn't showing up when I click to 'save' (I've uploaded my own photo from my PC at MANY forums).
- Okay so I made a signature on paint that is under the size limit. But when I tried to copy and paste it on under the boards tab of preferences in the signature spot it wouldn't let me. Can someone help me because I can't get any picture to copy and paste to that section but i can enter text???
Any other dumb newbies like me out there? I'm not only new to TV.com, I'm new to the whole concept.
After reading the posts I finally figured out that the Banner is on the Profile page, o.k. I originally thought the Banner was the graphic image area at the bottom of your forum post. Not! Thats's the Signature area, correct?
After following the instructions provided to add a banner, I tried about a dozen times with a couple differently formatted banners, but had no success. Well, the error message was telling me that the file name had to end in .jpg, .png, etc. I had copied and pasted the URL directly from Photobucket. The URL contained bracketed HTML(?) image tags: [IMG] at the beginning and end. Of course I know zilch about HTML. I removed both of those, and presto! Success. I hope if anyone else is having the same problem that this is helpful
Now my question is this: How can I add an image file to the Signature area of forum posts? Or is that a "level up" privilege? I don't see it under the Preferences tab.
Oops, sorry! There is an entire thread on the topic. I'll check there first.Edited on 06/02/2009 8:45am
