Let's see if you do or not.
And So An Era Ends...
Alas.
STAGES, the musical production written by two teachers but had outstanding result, has staged its final show. This production will never again be acted out, danced out, and sung out, which is hurting me deeply because I want nothing more than to be able to walk out on stage again tomorrow night and perform it all again.
The Soap Opera, The David Attenborough / Party, The Fight Dance, The Rebellion, and I'd even consider doing the Time Warp again. (Pardon the pun)
It's sad.
But I'll move on to further pains. Hell - the formal is coming up in November...
"We're Not Gonna Play! 'Cause We Are The Youth Of Today!" 'Stages'
Holy crap!
For an opening night, STAGES went out with a bang.
For those of you who aren't aware, STAGES is the name of the production that we're performing this year and was written by the production team at school and it's about teenagers - which is quite fitting because everyone performing it is a teenager.
It tells the story of a mother who, concerned about her teenage son, hires a detective to find out what has happened to him. This musical production takes the audience on a journey through the experience of being a teenager.
The beginning of the show started out slightly rockily because everyone was already tired and the radio microphones were playing up.
My first appearence on stage was during a song called Radio Ga GA - which we performed exceptionally.
During my next appearence a couple of scenes later, I was playing the character of an undertaker - who looks after the body after its soul has moved on. This was during the dubbed 'Soap Opera' scene, where I was able to play the character in many different ways. The first sequence I was meant to sound bored, unenthusiastic, and tired of the whole thing. After that, and in order, was; overdramtic, a musical version (where I sang), an 'up-to-date', where we got to act like really 'blond-stereotypes' or some person with aromatherapy or a cross between Steve Irwin and The Tenth Doctor, followed by a fast-paced version of the first sequence. And finally - a version where we have to make lame jokes.
In the next scene, called the 'Party' or the 'David Attenborough', we were meant to be 'animals' at a teenage party. The only thing I'm going to say about this scene is that it's the stupidest scene in the whole show and the only thing I like about it is being able to eat on stage.
My next two appearences happened right after the other. In the first one, I had to sing a variation of 'Black Widow' with five other guys, which was then followed up by my favourite dance in the show - 'The Fight Dance' - which I'm apart of. For your information, it's not a typical dance in a musical. It's fully choreographed by guys, for guys, and it's brilliant. Following that brilliant dance, came the final appearence of me and everyone else in Act I.
And this final appearence was in a slightly altered version of Rent, from the musical of the same name. (Our version is called We're Not Gonna Play). In this, we have to be as angsty and rebellious and angry and everything else as possible. And it went out with a BANG!
In Act II, my first technical appearence, while off stage, was during the song Seasons of Love (From Rent), where we just had to sing the chorus.
Then I appeared about three or four scenes later shirtless in a scene where I sing a parody of 'Stayin' Alive'. This was in response to getting ready for a Deb. (Because I probably won't do my own Deb)
My next appearence was in Time Warp. And while I'm not a fan of the song, it's a pretty fun scene.
And my final appearence in the show (as well as everyone elses), as during You Can't Stop The Beat from Hairspray.
All in all. I think this was a brilliant show and I feel incredibly privilaged to be apart of it.
