Too bad

Isn't it a shame when the most I have to look forward to in a day is the season premiere of a television show? Before organic chemistry today, I was determined to ask a particular girl out. Guess what: I DID. Her name is Ashley and she's totally gorgeous and sweet. An interesting fact that I found to be true is that she is MARRIED. I have the worst luck. This is the second girl in a row I've tried to ask out that's married. It seems I only want what I can't have. The girls I like these days are either too young or too old, and the girls my age are either married or worthless or engaged or a combination of the three.

I left for home thinking, Well, at least the season premiere of "Heroes" is on tonight.

That, too, was a disappointment.

Boy, I was pumped when I accidentally read that Pete Ross would be making a return to Smallville, KS. I thought that maybe, just maybe, we would have an episode that didn't try to be so heavy. Maybe Pete and Clark could have a great, little, character-developing episode, with maybe some minor conflict (although major in Pete's mind), such as: why is Lionel Luthor in the Kent's home? Although briefly touched upon, this could have been the springboard for the enjoyable, small episode I conceived.

Unfortunately, we got another FOTW episode with Pete as the freak. And don't get me started on the products this show continues to shill, or the way they incorporated green K into the said product this week. Geez! On top of that, his ability was lame, lame, lame. From the half-hearted hug between Pete and Clark, to Pete's gullibility, distrust of Clark, and blame game, this episode failed on many levels.

There was an acceptable resolution, with the door open for Pete to return in the future. I hope they, the writers, can find the time to write an episode with meaningful dialogue between two former best friends, therein giving the VERY talented Sam Jones, III something to do. I'm looking for Smallville to rebound big-time next go-round.

Don't get me wrong, I still love this show =)

Heroes is definitely starting to pick up! I really like that Nathan is becoming more involved in the story and that he is looking for redemption for what he thinks is his part in "killing" Peter. Boy, is he in for a surprise.

The ties that bond Noah and Clair are starting to fray a bit, it seems. However, I'm still not sure what to make of flying boy, and HRG seems to be onto Clair's scheme, even though he doesn't let on to her that he does. The HAITIAN MADE an APPEARANCE!

Finally, the dominicans are coming into play. Sylar, I mean Gabriel, just happens to be near-vulture-food on the very road they are traveling, and they all discover they're heading for the same place. I almost thought that Sylar had turned from his evil ways when he looked at his watch and gave his real name when asked what it was. His emotion seemed genuine, and I must admit, I bought it for a moment.

We are starting to learn a bit more of the group of 12, namely the fact that one of them is Parkman's father. Is he a killer? Or has he just been misunderstood in Molly's mind?

And then there's Micah's cousins. After a nice little scene to establish the relationships in the home, we are exposed to the girl cousin (her name escapes me) seeing Rey Mysterio's "619" maneuver from WWE. When I saw that after seeing what she could do to a tomato, I thought to myself, "Please don't let me see her do that." Well, my fears were justified.

Overall this was a great episode, where threads are really starting to cross. However, the "jump the shark" moment of the series thus far had to have been the cousin 619'ing the robber. Just awful. Besides that, I am VERY much looking forward to next week!

I still don't care about the dominicans all that much. However, their powers finally came in useful, but for only their own benefit, and the nature of them is extreme.

Clair has confided in the flying stalker. They seem to be getting along, but I wonder if he is going to lead her down a path that leans toward self-service rather than helping people. On another note, when it comes to established characters, is anyone else getting tired of the captions telling us who is who? We KNOW who Clair Bennett IS!

We finally get an update on Niki & son. DL is dead, which is unfortunate, but they had to trim the fat somewhere to make room for the new characters. Niki looks to be getting 'cured' before we learn the TRUE nature of her abilities.

I was wondering if Peter would ever smarten up and just take his ID back. It didn't come to that, but now it seems what he was striving for isn't all that important.

I hate the premonition that Noah will be the 8th to die. If I'm not mistaken, we've seen every one of Isaac paintings come to fruition. Hopefully his death can be averted. Another question: who shoots him? Clair because she has been led astray, or the person she is with in the painting who's back is to us? I don't think we'll get that answer until the very end of the season.

Sylar has nothing, except his pension for evil. He's lost all of his powers, apparently including his most essential: his ability to see how things work. However, we know that he'll play a big role in the events to come.

I like the dynamic with Hiro and Kensei. I see it like this analogy: Hiro:Kensei::Ando:Hiro. I'm not sure I like the way Hiro communicated with Ando. Time travel just creates too many paradoxes to be satisfactorily explained. Speaking of which, it seems the green screen department time traveled to 1993 with their scenery in Japan. On another technical note, the flight was convincing enough, but not up to the standard of Smallville flight.

I like how Peter used the Dark Side on the traitor with the "Force Choke."

The season is consistently building nicely.

I don't think it does. Sure, some may perceive Lexie as a bit overzealous in wanting to get to know her sister, but she's totally sweet, likeable, and has nothing but good intentions. And besides, I don't see her as overzealous, just incredibly desirable and cute.

However, Meredith's justification holds no water. Maybe Lexie and Meredith don't share the same quality of father, but it IS the same man, and Thatcher walking out on her does not give her a reason to take it out on Lexie. I hate that Meredith is breaking Lexie's heart. Meredith lives in her own world where everyone else is paying rent, and should feel privileged to even be in her presence, let alone be a part of her life. Will she ever "get it?" I think I've made my point on that...

George is in a tough position. His "wife," is having a terrible day as chief resident, and he can't possibly break it off with her to send her over the edge, can he? It appears that he will ignore Momma Burke's advice for the time being, even though he doesn't really love Callie anymore. Don't be surprised if he can't keep his emotions under control and snaps on Izzie, even though he won't mean it.

I love how Bailey somewhat "got her groove back" in the episode when she berated Alex. I was really hoping that Karev would break out his wrestling skills when he was decked by the meth dealer, but alas, he was knowcked out. Maybe next time!

Derek is an honorable person...or is he? He knows that he should walk away from the "relationship" he has with Meredith, but he's just not ready to give up on her. Maybe I should take a page out of his book.

"Kara" is a fine continuation of last week's venture, where we really meet Clark's first cousin for the first time and get to know her a bit. Besides being a fetching lass, Laura Vandervoort seems to already have the part of Kal-El's Kryptonian kounterpart down. I'm really looking forward to what more is in store with her. Is she really on Clark's side, or is there something simmering under the surface, as Jor-El suggests? Maybe it's a vendetta in Zor-El's name?

As we found out last week, Lana is still up-and-at-'em, and Lex tracks her down. I was wondering how they would explain the fact that they confirmed her DNA in the crash, and I think it works. Lex really seems like a transformed person, we'll see how long that lasts.

Is Chloe getting phased out? It seems that all of her territory is getting treaded on. First it was Lana learning Clark's secret late last season, and now it's Lois getting a job at the Planet, all the while impressing the new editor, to boot. Not to mention Kara not being to impressed with her as a human. Where's Jimmy?

Where's Lionel?

How's Martha?

The anchor of the show continues to be Tom Welling. Seeing how far he has come as an actor is quite astounding, especially knowing that he started as an underwear model. I'm super excited that he finally chose his training, but I admit that I'm a bit disappointed that nothing will really change on the show, setting-wise. His training officially begins where he's been all along...on the farm in Smallville. I was hoping for some immediate Fortress training camp sessions. Time will tell.

I can't believe that this show is still as strong as it is. Smallville is top-notch!

About Me

BrianSolo
I am a mid-twenty-something prospective medical student who loves anything that is quality, no matter the genre! My favorite shows are 24, Arrested Development, X-Files, Even Stevens, Grey's Anatomy and Smallville. I am always trying to find something new to like, but I first have to find the time! I also like lots of other things such as (in no particular order): playing and listening to music, watching movies and learning everything I can about them, watching and participating in athletics, showing off my wealth of trivial knowledge, living for God, and, of course, television!
